Please! Corporate boxes are a huge revenue source and also attracting the casual sports fan to the game.

If I'm a born and bred sandgroper that is open to all sports but leans slightly towards AFL here's your choice of game day experiences... Optus Stadium for AFL or shit box suburban ground for RL. We've made it an easy choice from day 1.

We're not asking for a 60k ground with all the bells and whistles. A neat, modern 30k stadium is perfect. AAMI isn't the MCG but at least it gives the storm a chance at providing a quality game day experience in comparison
Again that wont be a deciding factor for many. There'll be reasons corporates will choose to buy a box at HBF park. They like the sport, they like the price, they cant get in to Optus, its a better atmosphere etc.

Like Ive said I want to see it redeveloped, it will help the club and improve the stadium experience for everyone.
But if its a choice of no club and no grassroots funding or play at hbf as is with a perth club and $35mill of grassroots funding Im taking the latter every day of the week, as should any reasonable thinking RL fan.

I guess there is our fundamental disagreement right there. I'm looking at this from an NRL perspective and what does the game get. You are looking at it from a WA perspective and what does WA get.

Yeah I understand. I would just not consider them if they weren't willing to provide a first class stadium.
And thats your opinion, hopefully NRls is different.
Getting an NRl club in perth, getting Govt to fund its infrastructure and getting the equivalent of 35 years of grass roots funding for NRLWA are far far more important than one redeveloped stand in my opinion.

Supposedly Cook, PVL and Albo will be at the Perth NRL games in the same box. That should make for an interesting evening conversations.
If I can be arsed to go I'll keep my eye out for them and send a pic lol
I very much doubt they will be here. He will cop some serious flak from the crowd if he fronts up on the back of the news they are canning it.

I think you are looking at it from what does the NRL get. The 'game' gets a lot with the deal as it is. It gets grassroots funding on a level undreamt of in WA, it gets support for the club to be successful and turns casual RL fans into rusted on ones.

Cook and particularly his treasurer has made the NRL look like greedy pirates, they bad mouthed the game, other WA politicians and WA media outlets have talked negatively about rugby league and diminished it.

Wouldn't make me want to sign with these guys even in the best scenarios let alone for whatever left over scraps they want to throw.

Unfortunately it's the WA Gov that's f**ked it for league supporters in WA, not PVL.

In your opinion. if social media response is anything to go by the fans in WA are squarely laying the blame at the feet of the NRL. NRL could have had $350mill invested in the project (if you believe the agreement for hbf was done in Nov) and it would be well underway by now. It was their decisions to not go with the WB bid and WA govt offer at that time that has got us to here.

Ofcourse that is the perception on social media from Perthites because that's exactly what these WA cronies have projected - the NRL are greedy, they should be lucky to have us, their demands are over the top etc

The wider public perception out of this will be that the NRL are incompetent not the WA govt, because like someone else said, no other sport has these problems.

you have made some assumptions here …which no doubt will morph into “facts” over the passage of time if the bid formally falls over ….

yes they did reject the Cumins bid…. Six months ago…. Why couldn’t another deal get done ? Did NRL make other proposals in that time that Cook rejected ? Probably right … why aren’t they just as valid as the Cumins offer the NRL rejected ?
