I can understand the obsession Boomers have with a long dead footy team.

But what is the fanny flutters over NSO??

f**k me, it's an oval, tiny outdated park standard facility.
Same as waiting for the reds and rams to return basically, as for the boomers.. probably are the only generation who saw them live or on tv throughout the 80s/90s when they were good, (in finals regularly)
Basically a Sydney version of PR

Tells you all you need to know about the age and mentality of those who think the Bears coming back is some great Rl event. Its a local park barely fit for 2nd division RL.

You really think splitting home games so much will be a good idea?

Honestly if we have a Perth Bears team that plays any more than 2 home games per year away from Perth, it'd be a grave disservice to Perth fans - and if we have a "We'll play everywhere" Bears, it completely undermines the value of ticketed memberships - not to mention the unsettled logistics for players & support staff.

That amount of travel & changing grounds would almost be like playing away games every week!

It's bad enough right now having the Dragons & Tigers split between two home grounds.. and you want the Bears split between HOW MANY home grounds? Madness.

The Pasifika Bear's 🐻 would be a very new different concept of the future. Could be a pathway feeder systems growths club for the whole NRL unearthing juniors from the south pacific
Same as the Southern Orcas using 4 stadiums. Creating juniors pathways
From the juniors grassroots
The future are the juniors

Lets just remind ourselves of the stupidity they were proposing:

The Bears are reportedly set to lodge a formal proposal to the NRL, putting forward their case to become the league’s 18th team.

The Daily Telegraph is reporting the Bears have put in two years of ground work ahead of their historic push, with a plan to be sent to NRL powerbrokers in the next fortnight.

The submission will reportedly involve the entire Pacific region, encompassing Tonga, Samoa, Cooks Islands, Fiji and parts of New Zealand in their bid as well as Papua New Guinea.

No official name has been put forward with the bid, however the ‘Pacific Bears’ could be a possible title.

The Bears would also base themselves in Sydney, with a handful of games per season to be played at the famous North Sydney Oval.

“We would love to incorporate the Pacific and we are absolutely passionate about embracing some of those territories that would do very well with what the Bears have to offer,” Bears chairman Daniel Dickson said.

“We will put forward our proposal in the coming weeks. The Bears would very much embrace those rugby league heartlands and hope we could be part of the NRL’s expansion plans.”

“There is so much work to be done in those places and the expanding franchise has to be willing to think that this isn’t just an 18th team,” Dickson said.

“The current Pacific Championships proves the game needs to consider expansion into multiple territories, not potentially just one. Forty to 50 per cent of NRL players have Pacific heritage.

“Not only do people want to see the Bears return to top flight rugby league, we also have a strong desire to be a successful partner in developing the Pacific nations, who would require the skill and expertise of a club with the heritage we have.”

Lets be honest about what this is.

A backdoor way to get another team in Sydney.

If this merged entity was setup, it would be destined to fail in the new region, and calls for the club to return to Sydney would happen very quickly.

It seems every new club has to be viewed about how it would be supported from Sydney based fans.
