The Bears being back absolutely is a bigger issue than RL expanding to WA. Not a knock on WA but if the geographic positioning of clubs mattered more than it does then the NRL would already be getting eaten alive by other codes.
Rugby League expanding to a non-RL state for the first time in almost 30 years is the good news story.

The Bears might add a bit of mustard on top of that, but if it wasn't the Bears it would still be the biggest story in the game since the Dolphins inclusion.

Wait until you find out the make up of the board.

The second part would need approval from the NRL, which won’t happen.
If the Bears have a significant stake in the club (say ~49%) that's an even better news story, as they will be financially contributing to the operation of the team.

if nrl will appoint a board i wonder if any norths board members potentially get a seat? if not i wonder how it will be made up.

if 6 seats then maybe 4 west aussie gov employee's or gov appointed, 1 norths employee and 1 nrl employee. that still keeps is majority west aussie, wouldn't be a bad make up to be honest

According to the article, the WA Govt wont be involved in the running of the team, or funding going forward.

They are putting in some contra to build stadia, COE etc.

Very good outcome really.

if resurrecting an old, mostly unsuccessful suburban club that hasn't been around for 25 years and has fans made up of mostly 55+ year old men is a huge issue then the sport is in big trouble....

Random thought

Manly should play home games against Perth at Allianz Stadium and play it as an event game. Attack it to a public holiday or something and sell it out.
