It is not yet known whether PNG will be the NRL’s 18th or 19th team, given the possibility of another side — possibly from Perth — being added to the competition as early as 2027. The Australian Rugby League Commission is still confident the Perth-based Western Bears will be included in an expanded competition, despite recent setbacks.

Just watched this part again …the full answer when asked the latest with the ”Bears project”

Parliament finishes up next week, many of the govt dept staff have already finished up. I doubt we'll see anything till a week or two after they come back on 6th Jan. at earliest.
