Few journos called them the pirates pretty sure one was Penrith guy Peter Laing from the western weekender and another Zane bojak

My bet is Perth bears will be norths colours leaving png for red and yellow plus some variation

If PNG`s team are called the Pirates I will live-zoom myself eating my hat. A country with such a unique array of natural fauna, flora and cultures will surely do a lot better than Pirates.

Red and black bear said someone on here connected to the png bid said it was Scorpions or something similar

Given his batting average that’s probably a better bet

Maybe the public consultation will show something else is hugely popular

I think we’ll end up with a vote like the Titans.

They’ll preselect 5-10 names that would work and let the fans decide.

Andrew Hill said they will be taking that to the primary & secondary schools as well as the villages for consultations.

Still very early days, though - and I read that the branding will be put up to a public competition.

Any concepts at this stage are sheer speculation.

I’ve always wanted Bears colours. I wouldn’t mind dirty gold numbers though. Point of difference to every other teams and it’ll look great.

Yeh

Penrith have tried something in gold but for the stripes / piping which I like
