So my source was correct, they are still in negotiations. Sigh.
you sure? you said there were concerns and by cookies own words it didnt sound like that at all. way he talked he sounded like he had to think about what he was saying. if they are talking about mou (had to look up what it means) i assume it means in principle agreements that bear alluded to weeks back has to 100% be done for it to be that far along. terminology is key here.

meanwhile old bear's update came half way through what he saids 2 weeks ago.
There could be an update in the next 3 weeks. Very broad timeframe I know but Cook’s officially on the campaign trail and PVL comes back fulltime from this week (Orthodox Christmas was last week etc).

I don’t think anything will be reported on this week, better chance of it next week and very good chance of it in the week after (end of January). Then again it could all change, as you know that’s just how things sometimes tend to go with this sort of stuff.
granted he cast a wide net. maybe he was just guessing like rest of us.

however i acknowledge that both your info combined paints a fuller picture than just one. feels like cookie held back letting out more than he wanted/could have.

So in summary of where we are at:

1. No deal yet done
2. Negotiations continuing cordially
3. MOU being worked on
4. First step of proposed Perth club CofE in Malaga announced with a $20mill start up for a general sports complex development for multiple sports on the site.
5. No announcements likely for some time

I'm guessing the MOU will state the Govt support and the NRL's granting of a Perth license. The NRL will then announce Perth as the next license and the WA govt will start announcing their committments. If its pre election or not still too hard to say and my source was very non committal on when.

Not according to our Premier and the inside man lol
Same inside man that didn’t know what the NRL was requesting from WA Gov?

Same inside man that didn’t know there had been in principle agreements for some time?

Same inside man that didn’t know the Cumins bid was in trouble and that the NRL had been having informal talks directly with WA Gov prior to announcing that those talks had moved to formal negotiations?

Cool.
