Only poor in west aussie but they’ll be gang buster ratings as normal in east where majority of viewers watch footy anyways. I get that the point is to get west Aussies to watch footy to increase it but still need to remember where the core population is.

thats crappola, so kiwis gets games at 11:30pm if they kick off at 730 west Aussie time? Basically hurting a core market to service a small market? perthwrongs, ding dong

it’ll be 730 east time where majority of eye balls are. meaning 530 west coast and 930 kiwi can’t work any other way.
If they can’t grow the game in wa what’s the point of a team there

The odd clash would be ok but if it’s regular then Perth bears have to avoid that time slot

Maybe 1 pm Perth time but then it’s not a new time slot that Perth can play in

Saturday would have to be the bears preferred day in that case though playing games at 9 pm into eastern markets isn’t the best time slot

he is referencing aprils fools buffalo bill he doesn’t know anything and is putting stuff out.

I seens some people assume that they need to properly announce it before they start action things like board members etc. but since it’s nrls club what’s stopping them from already lining up people for key roles in admin under nda until such time they are formally announced ?

maybe things will ramp very quickly because there’s works being done in background already.? Possibility?

they aren’t coming in until 2027 … and can’t sign any players before November…. If admitted April Fools Day they will have plenty of time to get everything lined up…

Unlike others , I don’t pretend to have “sources “…. But I doubt anything formally is happening prior to April now …

“Meanwhile, V’landys confirmed negotiations for a Perth team to enter the NRL were ongoing, but attention in the west had now turned to the state election. Voters will go to the polls on March 8, and all governments have traditionally been conservative and refused to commit to big projects until re-elected.
“I’m still very confident about Western Australia, and expect an announcement will be made sooner rather than later,” V’landys said.“

Whilst the twats are nattering away I’m here to provide this update

Red bear was spot on

Calling yourself a twat is self deprecating but honest and true. Finally you got something right. 5 million rugby league participants in PNG? Not so true.

Do you mean local waafl teams or the dockers and eagles

Perth bears wouldn’t want to be playing many games going head to head with the latter as the crowds and tv ratings would be poor
We showed last season when AFL deliberately rescheduled the eagles to clash with the dolphins HBF game it doesn’t make any difference.

One off games are ok

Regular clashes when we’re trying to grow crowds and tv ratings would be suicidal

You’ll lose any causal afl fans who might watch it causally

Ideally the games should be feed into or after afl games so wa viewers can switch across

Haha refuse to commit to big projects pre election? Since when? He’s already committed $220mill to a racetrack at Burswood park.

Bear said the wa govt didn’t want to release the spending on league pre election but that the wa govt and nrl would drop hints along the way with the wa govt leading the narrative

Any actual updates or just speculation and standard insults between people?
how I interpret is things are happening in background but due to west aussie election nothing is being announced.

perthwrongs reckons theres concerns about the negotiations however red bears reckons negotiations are far more advanced than both parties are letting on and main reasons they’re holding back is due to election and ensuring cookie is re-elected with strength, any possible early announcement might hurt his overall polling so playing it safe. there’s apparently nda in place hence the update have been vague at best. before cookie spoke last week I bet a few in here didn’t even know what mou was. vlandys is very confident and probably only thing that might be issue is if somehow cookie isnt re-elected.

Impossible to prove or disprove Until we have data for more than a one off game.
The amount of committed eagles fans that are likely to attend an nrl club id suggest is minimal and won’t make hardly any difference to overall crowd sizes at hbf. And again what’s more valuable to nrl, a few thousand more people watching tv in Perth or a live afternoon game being played in front of a big crowd at 6pm on Tv in east coast.

Are you saying casual afl fans will watch it casually? Or that the casual fans won’t watch it casually if they are casually watching afl? Please explain.

And he may be right, or he may not be right. It’s a a50-50 guess lol. There’s been no hints dropped, all we have heard is when cook and Vlandys were asked directly by a reporter this week. And the answer was clear. No deal has yet been signed.

hasn’t he pretty much been right for months now? even when things don’t play out exactly in time frame due to whatever it still happens. only issue is he is sometimes a bit vague on details. other blokes here who have some inkling have said if anyone on this forum even remotely knows what’s going on it’s red bears.

so he is either good at guessing things to the point we need him on a casino trip or he knows enough of what’s doing but doubt he knows everything. he is probably just mates with bears or someone at nrl. I heard there’s club people and journos who are on this forum but we wouldn’t even know.

If we aren’t trying to grow the game in wa then there’s no point of a team

Wa has the potential for decent tv ratings for Perth bears games but only if they don’t clash with the eagles and dockers

There’s loads of other good time slots for crowds which don’t overlap with afl games

He’s not guessing

If he said something that didn’t pan out I would’ve posted it

Deal is done if will be announced post election
