In hindsight (20/20 I know), maybe going to 18 teams by adding the Warriors & Cowboys was the best option for 1995, with another expansion in the late 1990s/early 2000s, but in the meantime having some carrots there for relocations. (Including all possible resources for the Bears to successfully complete their move to Gosford, as an example of relocation done with good support).

That way, by the time that the late 1990s/early 2000s expansion happens, one/some of the possible expansion locations may already have been taken by a relocation.
For mine, no way the Cowboys should have been admitted in 1995.

They were a shambles on and off the field and it took 10 seasons for them to become competitive and even then they needed News to bail them out.

Hopefully they don't rush the next expansions like that

So they should’ve been culled when the comp went to 14 teams

They all miss the point. Bids need to be strong money wise before entering comp. Time didn't help reds, crushers.
The thing I find hilarious is many of the haters on here are fans of crap nrl clubs and they are trying to gate keep entry to the nrl clubs which are stronger than theirs

They could just say these clubs could take their spots if they were being truly honest about expansion

There’s at least three to four nrl clubs that have been basketcases for a long time and add very little to the nrl but are happy to get their 20 million from the arlc each year and still manage to run a crap footy side all the time

Dolphins have been in the nrl for five minutes and are already stronger than most nrl clubs

PNG will be set up from the start to be a development club when most nrl clubs pay lip service to development

Getting the bears brand back will from day one already have a stronger brand than quite a few current nrl clubs
