i think it'll be announced sooner and that both double header and origin will be used to sell initial memberships and promote it. otherwise its a wasted opportunity and fact is alot of those fans attending will likely be interstate fans coming to cheer on their teams and have a mini holiday in west aussie.

it also takes away from the fact those games are their own events. you want to add events in and not cram them into 1.

3 overall events for nrl in the form of west aussie bears announcement, double header and origin is better than 2 events with crammed in stuff and eating away at each others publicity.
I’d be happy to see that. I guess we’ll see.

I'd like to see a marching band. And a real life Bear like the one in Grizzly Adams.

And the release of thousands of balloons so that a few thousand seagulls can choke on them.

Used to love Cookie and Bob Hatfield in A Country Practice, I think they were both shagging Esme Watson tbh.
Wbtiktok's mob aren't going to scare the Cookster off.

Slow news day in WA? surely a quokka got assaulted or something.

You kidding:

The surfer taken by a shark on a remote Western Australian beach has now been named as 37-year-old Steven Jeffrey Payne, of Melbourne.

"The body of a surfer taken by a shark may not be found as police reveal drone footage captured the gruesome incident."

Senior Sergeant Taylor said. “There was a lot of blood, the shark, and some other things that I don’t think any others need to see.”

Don`t know about you , that got me away from the Forum for a while.

I’ll be surprised if after such strong denials only a couple of weeks back he just comes out announces the deal and says that it had been done all along - it’s kind of arrogance don’t you think ?
Yeah agree, any time over the next couple of weeks would look deceitful, not a good look. Six weeks should be ok though.

Some sections in the media are going to go after him about this whether it's announced this week, next month or next year. A new article isn't going impact the process at all.
my theory is thewest controlled by kerry stokes want to throw shade on west aussie bears perth nrl to potentially try derail it so it brings the overall tv broadcast deal down so 7 can bid on it and have a better chance.

if there's additional team, it means additional games and content meaning the overall value goes up and 7 will need to cough up more to compete in the stakes. they might not have that extra "more cash".

its interesting that the other rag in watoday controlled by fairfax haven't made a peep about it.

im probably heaps wrong here though

I assume you mean Kerry Stokes. Packer hasn't been with us for several years.

It’s been in the media a year and only became an issue a month ago …did they just wake up over there ?

It was gunna be announced back in October if not for Cumins making a meal of it

we’ll see if they stage manage a new meeting where all the differences gets “worked out” … I’d like to see the NRL tone it down a little …take the COE for now ..leave the stadium renovation a couple of years

AFL really are running scared!
first time RL has made the front page in my 25 years in perth and they can’t even get the name right lol
dont suppose cook is Impressed with vlandys being on nrl360 once again opening the door for him to be attacked. Vlandys should have toed the line and said negotiation s would now continue, not that a deal was now with cook to decide on.

They are REACHING.

Like I said about a month ago …. I think this is just too hot an issue and they will need to park it for 12 months …the AFL loving media will go ballistic and you can’t have this kicking off in the middle of a media driven hostile environment… might have to give everybody a chance to forget and move on to something else
That would be incredibly weak leadership and not the can do attitude we now expect from the ARLC and the game's leaders.

Disagree, get the funding locked in now, who knows whats going on in the world in a couple of years. Id rather wait a few months for the announcement and get everything committed than get the announcement now and miss out on some vital pieces of the jigsaw.

part afl driven, part political leaning driven. The West Australian leans to the right.

The timing is odd though ….everyone thought this was gunna be a done deal in October ….then the AFL and their compliant media just woke up last month ?

Maybe they are starting to get some bad ( for them ) feedback as to how the new NRL deal is looking …
