Disagree, get the funding locked in now, who knows whats going on in the world in a couple of years. Id rather wait a few months for the announcement and get everything committed than get the announcement now and miss out on some vital pieces of the jigsaw.

If Cookie boy wants to do it then great …no skin off my nose

Looking lime it ,,,,The timing is unbelievable though ….evsrybody thought this was gunna be a done deal in October ….then the AFL and their compliant media just woke up last month ?

Maybe they are starting to get some bad ( for them ) feedback as to how the new NRL deal is looking …
Theres a lot of potential motivators for why its suddenly hit the media and being put in a negative light by The West Australian over last 6 weeks.
Politics, media rights, afl influence, possibly all three! Other media outlets here have been generally positive, aside from the parochial 'dont let the NRL dictate to WA' commentary that comes out. Vlandys doesnt play a subtle game unfortunately and that has continually put Cook in a difficult position as the West Australian and Libs have ramped up their rhetoric.
Hopefully the dust settles, NRL is reasonable in its request, WA Govt is generous in its offer and we can get on with launching an NRL club in Australia's 4th biggest city.

afl and the lib media would only be complaining if it looks like its a go ahead and they arent getting anything out of it because they missed out.

afl arent getting investment into their junior resources or facility upgrades for kids ground etc. west aussie libs arent getting grand publicity in the east. this wreaks of little sad mob who know theyve missed out on a great opportunity especially the libs. doubt anyone in the east even knew who the hell roger cook was before this rugby league venture.

The WA Government guaranteed the WAFC (who handle WA dev programs) 11m a year for a decade from 2018 (with a review to come)., the AFL provides another 4-5m themselves. They dont need a stadium build, - they already had one in Optus Stadium - and both AFL clubs already have facility upgrades - Cockburn (Fremantle) as well as Fremantle Oval upgrades and Lathlain Park (West Coast).

How is any of the things you listed in your post related to the potential deal between the WA government and the ARLC as Sir Pies was referring to or have you just missed the entire context his post was written in?

im not talking about their pro sports team at all im talking about upgrades to junior sports facilities ie amenities, fields, club houses etc etc. getting cash to splurge on league clubs etc would be a shit go for the pompous red ballers

WA govt has supported all sports in WA that have a professional team here:

Perth Arena, Basketball Centre at Bold Park, newly announced Wildcats training facilities at Warwick for Basketball

HBF upgrade (stage1), Sam Kerr football centre and Perth Glory training centre at Mirrabooka for football

Optus stadium, Dockers and eagles training centres, sweet stadium kick back for WAFL for Australian Rules

HBF upgrade (stage1), CofE at Bold park, training centre at Malaga, direct sponsorship for Rugby Union

About time RL got some love!

Yeh posts a lot of news Ltd articles across all the expansion threads

Nothing in those articles was new
Just read them. have to laugh at them complaining about $200mill being spent on HBF Park when we've spent $1.8billlion on Optus. Its funny though that they now realise the spend is going to be infrastructure projects so they are pivoting their argument away from 'money to NRL'. Fortunately that rag only reaches less than 20% of WA's population.

There was a “rugby league journo” who wrote Perth bears shouldn’t get anything since wce have been struggling for ages and need money spent on them

It’s all publicity for nrl anyway and it’s not relevant anymore since the election is over

Nobody will care about this in two weeks if he keeps doing a good job on the economy

Have they? Must have been posted by the bellend I've got on ignore then.
imagine being perthwrongs, a lying sack of shit who claims to have secret asio security government inside sources, claims to have coffee dates with geriatrics who tell him they used to be the bosses of western reds, constantly posts items as information regarding stadiums, tv deals and expansion like he is some expert yet he is constantly incorrect, always wrong, says one thing on the cave about bears but then totally different thing here on forum because he is a coward, claims to be western reds biggest fan but wasnt even in the country when they were in the comp and calling someone a bell end.

only bellend is you perthwrongs, ding dong.
