the $120m figure that was reported as $12m a year for 10yrs for grassroots development?
Yes we know but the way it’s being perceived over here is the nrl demandi g a $120million payment from the nrl. The man in the street isnt following this as closely as we are And the west australian is unfortunately pitching it as wa govt paying the nrl.

all will be clear to everyone soon enough hopefully and we can get on With it, 6 months late.

Depends who you believe. Unfortunately the Sydney media keep talking about a license fee and that keeps fuelling the wa media. If the nrl just came out and clarified it in November the media reporting on that would have gone away,

stadium upgrade, training centre, free rent, jnr funding. All of those things can be announced with little push back. And hopefully will soon.

My recollection is that term “license fee “ was raised by Peter Badel and Brent Read in that disastrous pre election article… the rest of the article was just a complete rehash of statements made by PVL in November …

careful now alwaysloser will insinuate youre a rich bears bastard because ya can afford it all.

btw centy i seens a bears supporter on caves and dens page called bruce r. do ya know him cob? he seems like a complete and utter f**kwit. his insecure little man cuckold chair sitting energy is off the scales.
Yeah he is a dick, likes bagging others out, loves quoting newspapers and labels everything else as spin.
Constantly bags the Bears board, who have not been involved in negotiations, bags PVL, yet labels himself a diehard Bears fan.
Each to our own, I’m sure our paths will cross in 2025 lol.

Another example of the unhelpful sht im talking about in an article today

Perth’s hopes of entering into the competition appeared to hinge on Cook’s election results with the NRL reportedly angling for three main components in the deal.
This is a $120 million fee to join the competition that will be dished out to the other clubs, a pledge for investment into the grassroots of the game and an upgraded HBF Park, where the franchise will play the majority of their home games in Perth.

"This masthead can reveal V’landys will kick off TV rights negotiations in the next fortnight armed with data that shows the NRL has usurped the AFL as the most-watched code in Australian sport."

The Australian going one better and inferring that the number of teams will be sorted in the next fortnight. ;)
Hopefully they go into the next TV rights negotiations with not just Perth & PNG in place, but an opton to go to 20 teams at the back-end of the deal - for the right price.

After all, it's kinda silly to go from a weekly bye (17 teams) to no weekly bye (18) then pretty quickly go BACK to a weekly bye (19) with no real desire to resolve that. It means at least one fan-base misses out EVERY weekend, which can't be good for broadcasters.

If Dazn / Fox retain the Aussie pay tv rights they have said they might also expand into nz so would make sense for them to have the nz tv deal too

Absolutely - and Sky are ripe to be splattered, given the clusterf*** of problems they've been dealing with (everything from issues with replacing a dying satellite to a stubborn NZ Rugby not just rolling-over and rubber-stamping a new deal to the increasing prices of content & competition with streaming services in the non-sports space)

DAZN - Go get 'em!

If a play for the NZ market is on, surely team 20 is decidedly on - and soon.

F**k!
I literally only last night bought my tickets to the double-header! Okay, got seats on level 5 for $49 each, which isn't too bad, but dammit!!
Wow, much cheaper than SOO2 and Dolphins v Knights, both seriously over priced.
Is level 5 the nose bleed section ?.

Yeah. Still a good view, and should the weather turn foul, it's the driest place to sit. That first Origin game we had here (2019?), it belted down for a bit. We were about 3 rows from the very back and everyone from maybe 10 rows in front of us all the way to the field were getting drenched or covering their state colours with white or yellow plastic ponchos!
