You`re not even trying now.
The NRL will be lumping into that 14.4m figure absolutely everything Rugby league related regards to travel to that state, and from within the state to Perth as well. So that will include Origins, Tests, lower grades, events, teams taking extra games there (the double-headers seem to be popular) and so on.
Yeah you`re going to argue that they would have some of those other things anyway, you know and I know that`s not how adding these numbers work and that`s reasonable.
BTW not $500m per year, it`s over 10 years. You`re the bloke with the Bears facebook page, you should be getting this right.
Remember you’re arguing with a guy that added up the numbers and told us that 40k aussies visiting Vegas was worth nothing to thier local economy and the Nevada board of tourism would never pay the NRL a cent to come to town.

Those comments aged well.

WA NRL side: Deal ‘achievable’ by end of April, Premier Roger Cook says
Roger Cook says a deal to bring an NRL team out west could be achieved within the next four weeks but reaffirmed he would only sign off on an agreement if it was good for WA taxpayers.
Media reports over the weekend revealed the league had a four-week deadline on a deal for a WA side, to allow for negotiations to start on broadcast arrangements for the 2027 season and beyond.
Speaking on Monday the Premier said that timeframe was achievable — despite reiterating during the election campaign that talks were only ever at an early stage.

Liberal Adam Hort claims Kalamunda victory in last seat counted for State election ahead of Zempilas vote
“It’s achievable. Obviously we understand that is a deadline that the NRL are working towards, not a deadline that we’re working towards,” Mr Cook said.
“At the end of the day, we want to understand what the nature of any sort of proposal would be in terms of its impact on the on the West Australian taxpayer, and the benefits to the Western Australian community, and we’ll only do what’s right for WA.
“We have to be we have to awake to any opportunity and we’ll obviously examine the proposals that are put before us.”
The game’s powerbrokers want an answer on if, and, when the Western Bears could join the competition, alongside a new team already confirmed to be based in Papua New Guinea.

Mr Cook said he was not sure if a deal was close to being signed, had not seen rumoured economic modelling, and had not spoken to the league’s boss Peter V’Landys since the premier’s re-election earlier this month.
“I’m sure we can achieve some sort of deal if that is the opportunity that we have before us,” he said.
“But I haven’t even paid any attention to this since the election, and I certainly didn’t pay any attention to it during the election.
“This isn’t a priority for us, but obviously it’s an opportunity for us. We have to be awake to any opportunity and we’ll obviously examine the proposals that are put before us.”
Pressure mounted on the Premier during the election campaign over whether he should disclose the cost of a prospective deal with the NRL, with suggestions that a taxpayer-funded package could come at a cost of up to $320 million.
That proposal would include a $200 million redevelopment HBF Park — the likely home ground of the Western Bears.

Mr Cook’s new Sports Minister Rita Saffioti told The West Australian on Monday she would not be rushed on a deal with the NRL as she prepares to spearhead negotiations and hit back at claims that HBF Park was in desperate need of redevelopment.
Ms Saffioti slammed the “snobbery” surrounding the stadium.
“We hosted a Women’s World Cup there,” she said.
“We’ve already spent millions of dollars upgrading it. Incredible new scoreboards. The change rooms were upgraded. The pitch is in very good quality, probably one of the best quality pitches going around.
“I don’t like this sort of snobbery about our HBF (Park). I think it’s pretty good.”

WA election 2025: Nationals all smiles despite falling one seat short of Liberals
Just days after Labor’s landslide election victory, Mr V’Landys mounted more pressure on the State Government, when he was asked about how quickly a deal could be signed with WA.
“Look, it’s got to happen quickly and Roger and I made an agreement just before the election, or well before the election, that once the election started, we would down tools and wouldn’t discuss it,” Mr V’landys said.
An NRL spokesman refused The West’s request to speak with Mr V’Landys, or provide a copy of economic modelling.

Appreciate you posting all these articles…

The rhetoric on this one seems a little toned down … no mention of the “$120 m license fee “ … looks like Abdo and PVL got that message out there …

Kalyn Ponga is signed until 2027..
Born in WA.. What's the chances of him being the marquee signing?
Yeh if Im Ponga I'm hanging off any new deal until we see if Perth happens and what they might offer. He is the marquee signing, being a WA born lad, that the NRl would love to see for the new club you'd think. If he's worth the money is a different question!

Yeah I can see the players lining up to live in that compound in PNG lol.
I think you should say that again just to make it a 100 times

Over a five year deal at 2 million pa he earns an extra 4.3 million dollars playing in png.

So he would get ten million from png vs 5.7 million from any Aussie club. Almost double

If anyone earning 2mill is paying full $910k tax they need a better accountant!
