Im not a fan of the Bears thing … but I have little doubt this negative campaign would be still happening regardless of the name of the team
Liberal AFL (7) papers. Not sure why anyone is expecting The West or Sunday Times to be positive about a Labor led NRL project!
Thankfully 80% of WA doesn't read it. NRL media needs to be feeding WAtoday (owned by 9) and the local radio stations (who've traditionally been positive about RL) some perth facing positive Bears news stories. WAToday doesnt even have a RL section, I'd be starting there!

Is the AFL in the media ownership business? .., sounds like a weak excuse to me …

The election is over … so what’s the “liberal “ newspaper trying to influence ? Are they going after Cook on any other issues ?

Its owned by Ch7. Its a Liberal newspaper, you think they only lean one way during election time? lol. They will already be plotting how they can make Basil the next WA premier. Yes they have been slamming him on the Burswood racetrack pledge. Todays news has them sowing seeds of dissent between Cook and Albo with a heading over minerals that has no relationship to the story content. Dont be so naive lol

From some sections, I agree. Forcing a Sydney club onto Perth has just given them another angle to go at us though.
We've supplied them with ammunition.
It's just the reality, people can pretend it's not there or label it anyway they want but it's just reality. The NRL created it and will need to combat it.

Id say thats pretty sad reflection on the NRL's influence on Nine and how much it cares about WA. But you be you.
You’re not making a very compelling argument for a team

Especially when you’ve said pretty much the only media league gets in wa is negative or outright hostile

I don’t remember Channel 9 , and particularly News Ltd doing the NRL a lot of favours over the years …normally they were the opposite in fact….

Another angle they don’t need apparently …according to our mate ,,,they are being attacked because of the involvement of the Labor Premier and Channel 7 protecting their AFL product .

NRL has never controlled the media like AFL has until the sweet covid deal when Vlandys took a poor deal and but got some sweet media traction. The change in media tone towards NRL over last couple of years is very very evident.

so the AFL gets top dollar AND is protected by their media ? Why is that ?
