Well they’re getting a win in one of their two agendas by look of it. Can’t lose really, cook does a deal they’ll slam him for wasting wa money, cook doesn’t do a deal they’ll use it to slam nrl as an east coast centric comp making afl look good.

Sounds like the NRL can’t win then either …

liberal afl paper, either way it goes they spin it to one of those two agendas. Either cook is wasting our money or nrl still can’t grow into a national comp. Joys of media with agendas.

and tbh the arlc shouldn’t give a sht about what a local rag says, they should be concerned about walking away from the greatest opportunity ever afforded to grow the game of rugby league in west Australia.

I don’t see any other media in the country shit canning a sport though.., why are they unique ?

Until the WA government comes back to the table with an even better deal.

You bagged the NRL when WA offered zero.
Then they came with cash, you bagged the NRL for turning it away. Now they've turned down a far larger WA government bid .. surprise surprise.. you bag the NRL for turning it down.
At what point do you realise that the NRL are clearly more qualified to make this assessment than yourself?

Remember? You took the ZERO$$$ bid.

Don't forget that you f**king dickhead.

couldn’t say, I don’t read newpapers in other states. Are you saying media in other states doesn’t lean into stories based on main sport of that statem or which political leading the paper has? I’m guessing the papers in vic aren’t falling over themselves with positive nrl stories?

No … They don’t take an hysterical view of a new sport moving in …

Let's be honest, the Bears need to f**k right off of any further expansion discussions for WA.
Based on what?

Either the ARLC or the WA Government has f**ked this up (if it indeed doesn’t go ahead).

Nothing to do with the Bears or Bears fans.
WA just isn't going to tip in any more cash, it's political suicide in this economic environment.
It’s not that big of an issue bro and he just won the election a few weeks ago. He would be fine.

So why is he not tipping it in now?

All the Bears "insiders" where full of shit

If he has offered around $300mill of investment then that seems a reasonable amount for an nrl license the nrl will own and cash in on. I’d like him to come out and tell us what is in the offer so we can judge who is being unrealistic.

They'll get many more opportunities mate. You'll be wrong again. You're always wrong, what's that like? Literally every thing.
Sure they will lol. In 27 years this has been the only big one for wa, fueled by a once in a lifetime situation of having two premiers who are RL fans. How often do you think that will happen here?

if it doesn’t happen now it won’t be till Vlandys fcks off and then could be decades.. He has been opposed to WA from the start.

We’ll find out eventually.

care to response to the rest of it? Lol

don’t think so
Cook has made an offer he believes reasonable. nrl has had since 2022 to sort this out. They had a $50million investment bid they walked away from.
Cook was told what was required to get a licence. Cook said he believed getting that deal done was possible.

If recent reports are true, Cook has failed.

Once in a lifetime... since this is the second premier in a row, isn't that twice in a lifetime?lol
It's not really that rare is it mate and he's in for what? Another 4 years?
And why do they have to be pro RL ?
Just pro WA . Last time I checked, this is the biggest Rugby comp in the world, bringing in significant economic benefits, that's why you pay to have games played there mate.

The NRL have plenty of expansion opportunities. WA only has ONE NRL opportunity and they'll pay for it.

Yeh so did the consortium, and despite going back with what nrl wanted they still said no. The goalposts have been moving on this so much it’s not surprising everyone has had enough.
We’ve had a syndey club forced on us, we’ve had a $50mill bid and local ownership turned down and now the $300mill or so the wa govt is offering still isn’t enough. All continually played out by the nrl through the media, what a sht show.

ps I have no doubt this is a typical vlandys pressure tactic to try and squeeze more money out of WA. If it works and the game benefits here genius, if cook walks away and we are left with nothing It’s a disaster. Like I said time will tell.

There's no " disaster " unless you live in WA and have spent the last decade arguing for a team.
It won't be a " disaster" for the NRL, they'll just go with a second NZ team, a brand new stadium filled with new fans and watch as the biggest rivalry in sport takes hold.
A sold out Eden Park South Island vs Warriors... yeah what a " disaster " lol

For a stadium … they don’t own ?

The NRL was getting a stadium upgrade in Perth as well right? Did that not suffice?
Well by all reports the stadium upgrade is one of the sticking points in WA, so obviously it doesn’t suffice.

The AFL received funding for two stadiums & and a CoE, and $12m pa for ongoing club costs, all things the nrl has obviously seen and thought they could get out of WA.
