WA BEARS

Yeh so did the consortium, and despite going back with what nrl wanted they still said no. The goalposts have been moving on this so much it’s not surprising everyone has had enough.
We’ve had a syndey club forced on us, we’ve had a $50mill bid and local ownership turned down and now the $300mill or so the wa govt is offering still isn’t enough. All continually played out by the nrl through the media, what a sht show.

ps I have no doubt this is a typical vlandys pressure tactic to try and squeeze more money out of WA. If it works and the game benefits here genius, if cook walks away and we are left with nothing It’s a disaster. Like I said time will tell.
Are you referring to when the consortium was told to bid with a licence fee three times and still chose not to?

There’s no evidence that WA have offered anything like $300m.

If this deal doesn’t go through, it’s yet another example of the Bears finding a way to escape the jaws of victory and lose again.
You sound like one of those “clever” fans that think they’re being funny when referring to the Dolphins as being from “the”.

Get out one thing clear. I’m about getting a WA licence in the NRL.

Thing the nrl and people on here continues to ignore about tassie is the AFL are also committing massive funds to tasmania. As far as we know nrl has offered nothing to this deal beyond the normal club grant.
And $ for $ investment in grass roots matching the Govt

That’s great, you wouldn’t mind then if the cursed party was removed from the equation.

There's no " disaster " unless you live in WA and have spent the last decade arguing for a team.
It won't be a " disaster" for the NRL, they'll just go with a second NZ team, a brand new stadium filled with new fans and watch as the biggest rivalry in sport takes hold.
A sold out Eden Park South Island vs Warriors... yeah what a " disaster " lol
Is there:

- Any Govt funding?
- Any private funding?
- Any junior pathways?

Im arguing that people calling rugby league 'rugby' isnt an issue lol It makes far more sense than calling it 'footy'.
It’s always been “footy” in Sydney, at least in my lifetime. I’m sure I’ve said this before but I’ll put up a couple of photos from footy cards from the 1970s.

Jim Murphy, look at the badge on his chest WS D R L F C.

1974 team cards.

The other team cards are the same.
Football Club. That’s the heritage here.

The Government has built a brand new purpose built stadium.
The Orcas are putting in hundreds of millions of dollars.
The Junior system is growing at an unprecedented rate and recently a Canterbury team just won the national comp.

The arlc’s mandate is to grow the game across Australia at all levels. If they stuff this golden opportunity to grow the game in WA at no cost to them then yes it is a disaster.

Well by all reports the stadium upgrade is one of the sticking points in WA, so obviously it doesn’t suffice.

The AFL received funding for two stadiums & and a CoE, and $12m pa for ongoing club costs, all things the nrl has obviously seen and thought they could get out of WA.

Well … the WA govt ain’t buying in to the same degree ….

Tasmania is a different state and AFL is actually their No 1 game

Let me know when that happens … might be a decade away …: that’s when the Warriors are saying that NZ will be ready for a second team

Afl put in the pot for tassie
$15mil contribution to stadium
$33mill to elite pathway costs
$10mill towards a CofE
$93mill to grassroots

total contribution minus the annual grant is $151million

again I ask what’s the nrl contributing to perth? If you’re going. To use Tassie as an ask precedent then you also have to look at what everyone is putting in.

Like the Broncos giving the go ahead for the Dolphins? Or McDonald's giving the go ahead for Hungry Jacks?

The last organisation on earth the NRL will be taking advice from in regards to another NZ team is the Warriors.
