The Perth Red meltdown lol
Take it like a man!
The glee some rugby league fans are having at what is looking like a massive missed opportunity for the game is pretty sad for so called fans. I get you might not like me, but any way you want to look at it NRL not expanding to the countries 4th biggest and wealthiest city, not getting 10's of millions for grassroots RL in an AFL state and not having an Australian 19th club and content to sell to Australian TV would be a major disappointment.

A bank guarantee is not cash in the bank. The Dolphins were asked to provide a $10mill a year bank guarantee (like an overdraft facility if you will) for 5 years.
Cumins mentioned in his interview that in their revised offer they had also provided bank guarantees.

ok..how about his theory …

PVL and Abdo just didn’t like the bloke and didn’t want to deal with him …

Happens every day in the business world

Yep, I said from beginning that could well be the case. Cumins was very critical of Vlandys after the rusted on waste of money statement. Sht like that happens with ego maniacs. We'll just chalk it down to another shot in the foot for the game.

You honestly can’t use PNG as a bench mark for what is required to enter the NRL.
Take away that Government funding and they are a rugby league loving Country who can’t afford to even buy footy boots.

I didn't say they were a benchmark. I said that is the minimum a new team needs

Look at where that money is going

RL is compulsory at school - so pipeline of kids
Academies to train the better kids
CoE - So the players get same training as those at the other clubs
Decent local comp for players
2nd tier comp for the fringe guys to play in.

Very similar to what WA bid was asked to have.

Remembering to the other bids also got rejected.

Be lucky to crack 20k. Talk about popping an inflating balloon! Ive got tickets and I'll see on day if I can be arsed to go.
That’s how I was on Saturday with the Dolphins v the Titans and the QLD Cup game beforehand was Tweed Heads Seagulls v PNG Hunters, when this news broke, I thought, nah I’m driving down to Yamba instead for a surf.

Certainly wont be buying tickets for Dolphins game unless things change. If HBF isnt good enough for the NRL I guess it isn't good enough for me to pay $96 to watch NRL there.

The odds of any group ponying up $100mill cash for a new nrl license in a new area seems pretty slim. great to have aspiration but if it will never meet reality it just becomes a dream.

@Gobsmacked and @Wb1234 since you both laughed at this, and you both supported and claimed that the 50% fan owned bid would be successful, how do you think they were going to get $50m from fans that don't exist?

Didn’t know Cumins was an ego maniac …haha

I’ve said several times that PVL hasn’t exactly covered himself in glory with a few things that have gone on in this expansion process … although im not sure if his bosses ( the clubs) actually care … their focus might be on the TV deal and they need a big win with that now

Well Warriors have been in the competition for how long, have a whole Country behind them and still can’t get their shit together.
30 percent of nrl players are kiwis
The kiwi tv deal is worth 32 million pa
The warriors have one of the highest crowd avg in the comp
Has won multi finals and world cups since warriors came In

Yeah and most play for Aussie clubs, no way NZ’s success has anything to do with the Warriors being in the NRL lol.
Samoa and Tonga seem to go pretty good without a team in the NRL.
