Well no it wasnt, some of that the consortium was going to fund, the rest the WA govt has agreed to fund. So NRL has turned down all of these things that would have been in place
34 jnr clubs across wa and ns - already exist and bolstered by WA Govt funding
established pathways in ns, govt funds to develop in wa - covered
history in bears brand - covered
assets in owners and guarantees - WB bid had bank guarntees and guranteed workign capital
cofe offered to be built - WA govt agreed to fund
So if theyd accepted the bid in October all of this was covered! Plus the clubs could have got a $20mil bribe.
Its starting to feel like the titanic. It taking way too long , just sink the boat already.Does anyone have any popcorn they can spare as this movie is running longer than I thought it would and is getting very interesting?
eh? That makes no sense. Thats the bribe to the clubs that was offered, nothing to do with a new clubs stability$20m is just over a $1m each. Huge some of money to prove the club is stable
Incredibly unprofessional. But par for the course. The fact the WA govt are still persevering is a miracle in itself. This is very small fry for a WA govt. The NRL have gone and done it again - State government provide them a formal offer last week and the NRL return fire with leaking "underwhelming bid" through the media, zero discourse or negotiation on what was offered.
They did the same with the consortium .... terrible business practice.
This is the most favourable state government the NRL will ever deal with. Show some respect and at least engage in the negotiation first before flaming the offer in the media. Especially after stepping out of line during the election.
And problem is I can't tell if I am watching a horror movie, comedy or drama. Maybe a bit of each. Might even end up with a final twist and it was a love story all along. Its starting to feel like the titanic. It taking way too long , just sink the boat already.
Hoping its like one of those marvel or action movies where the hero gets beaten down and all hope looks lost, then there's a late rally and good wins out at the end!And problem is I can't tell if I am watching a horror movie, comedy or drama. Im surprised you were surprised. That came out ages ago - before the Christmas and pre Election breaks. The proposal included joint funding for junior development - dollar for dollar I think they saidIf someone came on this forum knowing nothing about rugby league then the quickest way to learn is to read pr posts and know the opposite is true every single time
I was surprised when red bear said the nrl was matching govt funding
I got kicked into that one. 100% behind Searle who was genuine was stuffed up with overcommitments on building. This in a rugby league heartland. The one good thing to come out of the GC was the new stadium. The Cumins model, as a business, wasn’t sustainable mate. They might have had upfront cash but had no assets and no guarantees for future proofing. No collateral. It doesn’t matter what an individual has in that regard, NRL have learnt from Searle and from Tinkler. So that does not apply.
They disregarded a simple brief, failed to communicate with the people making decisions, brought in people into the fold that they were explicitly advised not to bring in.
Perhaps his heart was in the right place but the self proclaimed commercial beast in Cumins came out looking like a commercial kitten.
PR, I know this is difficult but mate, at times you’ve seemed gleeful at the prospect of this Perth Bears proposal failing. Figuratively rubbing your hands together because PVL would get a black eye.The glee some rugby league fans are having at what is looking like a massive missed opportunity for the game is pretty sad for so called fans. I get you might not like me, but any way you want to look at it NRL not expanding to the countries 4th biggest and wealthiest city, not getting 10's of millions for grassroots RL in an AFL state and not having an Australian 19th club and content to sell to Australian TV would be a major disappointment.
Couldn't be further from the truth. Had to swallow hard at the prospect of having to take on a Sydney club but could see the benefits and can live with it. As someone who has been campaigning for this for 15 years now nothing will make me happier than Vlandys announcing a Perth team. I'd happily buy him a beer at that time!PR, I know this is difficult but mate, at times you’ve seemed gleeful at the prospect of this Perth Bears proposal failing. Apparently Peter Beattie meeting today ....Hoping its like one of those marvel or action movies where the hero gets beaten down and all hope looks lost, then there's a late rally and good wins out at the end!
Feels like a repeat of an old episode to meDoes anyone have any popcorn they can spare as this movie is running longer than I thought it would and is getting very interesting?

the TV ratings come from a 9th game, Perth's ratings don't necessarily play into it.I got kicked into that one. 100% behind Searle who was genuine was stuffed up with overcommitments on building. This in a rugby league heartland. The one good thing to come out of the GC was the new stadium.
The NRLis noticing to get their a*ses kicked gains. They want all Ts crosse & I'd dotted .
I am pro Perth but the TV ratings there for NRL are a worry and that's(TV deal) where the loot comes from Yes the TV comes back to the East Coast for ratings.
Probably because they know dodgy deals or risky ones when they see one .Twiggy has an ego yet a successful businessman. Yes men and snake oil salesmen don't make the grade, else there would be no big industrial revolution .Yes there is risk ,but is a considered risk based on a lot of research.Im sure they are both of a similar personality type. In my experience most successful business people are.

That was my point ,mentioning the East Coast(just like Melbourne)ratings are not that crash hot.the TV ratings come from a 9th game, Perth's ratings don't necessarily play into it.
So who is Thanos, the WA Govt or the NRL ?, so many contrasting stories, I’ll say the Liberals and the AFL are that sneaky puppet master in the background.Hoping its like one of those marvel or action movies where the hero gets beaten down and all hope looks lost, then there's a late rally and good wins out at the end!
