Learned Helplessness.

If we keep blaming every issue on the "AFL Bogeyman" we get no-where.

No expansion team in the history of the game came into the perfect conditions from Day 1.

The Dolphins still play a bunch of games in a shitbox suburban stadium.

The Storm played at Olympic Park for decade and a half.

$7mill extra grassroots funding for NRLWA a year is a great win for the game here. They basically operate on less than 1mill now so a 700% increase in funding would be amazing.
A training centre (and temp one till its built) is a great win for the club.

Id like to see HBF get a West stand as it will transform the place and help the clubs viability, but that might have to wait till the heat has died down.

So the actual wa govt offer is now only 55 million in total

“There is no need to redevelop HBF Stadium for an NRL licence. The ground is vastly superior to many existing NRL grounds and has successfully hosted a number of international fixtures and competitions in recent times.”

I’m not sure the Bears logo can morph into some Māori influenced thing ..can you see that happening ?
Geez don’t call the South Island people of NZ Māori, my north island mates will kill you lol.
They hate them, call them of Indian heritage blow ins.
We are going skiing over there in August, said we were going to look at the cultural side, shit that was all it took lol.

Its in the $70mill range by sound of it.

$35mill grassroots (5 years probably as they dont want to committ future Govt's given the lack of bi-partisan support)
$20-30mill Malaga Training Centre inc NRLW facilities
$10mill temp facilities at Ken Allen field

I still think the stadium can be sorted out down the track, even an in principle agreement to build a business case for it will do for now.

For all that NRL is putting little in and gets to own a club that it can sell down the track.

Its a shame the stadium wasn't approve mid last year - sold as a win for Rugby, Soccer and a future League team. Could have been completely locked in before it became an election wedge point.

They aren’t selling it it’s going to members for free

This will be interesting if Pvl blinks

The wa govt has taken away 85 percent of the promised funding

Those figures you keep clinging to were media BS. In Nov they had it at $500mill. By Jan it was down to $320mill, now its at $70mill lol.

Take out the HBF upgrade and the $70mill is ball park of where it would always have been at.

The challenge for NRl now is to decide how viable they think the club will be with HBF as is. They cant argue with the rest, $7mill for grassroots is great, training centre all good. Sweet financial deal on stadium use helps the bottom line.

Ok, so let's just take a pathetic offer them while our rival cleans up in Tasmania. Isn't that what you've criticised this administration for in the past? Selling the game short?
Again with the apples and oranges comaprison. Tasmania is an AFL state desperate for a top flights sports club in a national comp.
WA isnt an NRL state and has top flight sports clubs in every code bar one.

In Tasmania AFL are putting in a significant investment of their own money. WA NRL are not.

Maybe if the NRL had fronted up with $100mill contribution and not turned down $50mill of private investment WA's would look a lot better?

I look at how the expansion to 19 clubs for both codes has gone and can only cringe at our ineptness.
Um! the Sunburns (are burning up) AFL cash like its going out of fashion and the West Canberrian Gimps even more so.Even people within the AFL from other clubs are questioning the constant outlays.
Both the Swans & Lions took full advantage of the SL war.The Swans have admitted it helped them no end.
The SL war put us back 10years plus and only now are we at levels where we should have been way back then.
Yeah it's really fricken cringeworthy LOL.
Records crowds & ratings last year.
Taking the wind out of AFL at the years start with Las Vegas.Where they have got the sh*ts for the Nrl being so progressive thinking outside the square.
Now the RL have contracted a deal with Disney channel.
Dolphins predicted to be a stumbler have been well above expectations. The Tits have been competitive with a new stadium. The Wahs have sold outs this year. The Pennies are getting a decent stadium. The Cows have a new stadium with a huge boost in crowds.
Oh and the NRL now has solid assets owning 4 Pubs in Brisbane, Port Macquarie, Woolooware another one think Brisbane (Mantra Terrace).
None of the prior CEOS organised buying a brick.
