Um! the Sunburns (are burning up) AFL cash like its going out of fashion and the West Canberrian Gimps even more so.Even people within the AFL from other clubs are questioning the constant outlays.
Both the Swans & Lions took full advantage of the SL war.The Swans have admitted it helped them no end.
The SL war put us back 10years plus and only now are we at levels where we should have been way back then.
Yeah it's really fricken cringeworthy LOL.
Records crowds & ratings last year.
Taking the wind out of AFL at the years start with Las Vegas.Where they have got the sh*ts for the Nrl being so progressive thinking outside the square.Nowe the RL have contracted a deal with Disney channel.
Dolphins predicted to be a stumbler have been well above expectations. The Tits have been competitive with a new stadium. The Wahs have sold outs this year. The Pennies are getting a decent stadium. The Cows have a new stadium with a huge boost in crowds.
Oh and the NRL now has solid assets owning 4 Pubs in Brisbane, Port Macquarie, Woolooware another one think Brisbane north.
Interesting thing was the afl increased the money they give to the swans by 8 million pa

Looks like their finances are slipping too

None of the prior CEOS organised buying a brick.
We are talking about how both codes have handled the 19th club. Nice little rant though lol

70 million is not a good offer
I think its ok. Its not great but its a start and gives the club a solid 5 year start up. As long as they keep the HBF upgrade on the table for future work I'm ok with it. NRL walked away from an additional $50mill. $120mill to start up an NRL club is as good as it gets I'd say and probably wont be seen again.

Again with the apples and oranges comaprison. Tasmania is an AFL state desperate for a top flights sports club in a national comp.
WA isnt an NRL state and has top flight sports clubs in every code bar one.

In Tasmania AFL are putting in a significant investment of their own money. WA NRL are not.

Maybe if the NRL had fronted up with $100mill contribution and not turned down $50mill of private investment WA's would look a lot better?
The stadium cost continues to grow to now $1bn, and the AFL isn't go to add further to the expected now $225m increase. All this in a state that is in a state of financial issues.
Whatever the AFL throws in , the taxpayers including you and me are paying for this Taj Mahal in the Apple Isle. And the fumbleballers will be sitting back laughing.

Like I've said they've played it very well. NRL in WA, not so much.

At the risk of adding to the conjecture, the following quote taken from The Wests article posting not long ago is the pertinent bit for me:

"Mr Cook said the league should have prioritised negotiations with a consortium of business owners.
It instead chose to switch its focus to the State Government after the AFL’s talks to expand into Tasmania"

Whos fingerprints do you see there ?

Like how the nrl played it in png

And is trying to in wa
Feds, stupidly, believe they need NRL in PNG. Cook wont put his party at risk overpaying.

Tasmania, yet again, AFL are putting in, Feds are putting in, Tassie Govt are putting in. In WA its just the state Govt, and they are copping flak due to NRl incompetence.

Just stop praising the afl as the model to copy re Tasmania whilst also saying nrl should accept a really crappy wa bid lol

Yes was an interesting comment! They clearly believe the bid was turned down as NRL thought they could screw more money out of the Govt.

We could have had $50mill private investment + $300mill WA govt investment in Oct.

Instead we are now at the point of $70mill WA govt investment and quite possibly nothing. Great work Vlandys!

They way they did the deal, behind closed doors, respectfully and with mutual contributions is what I am praising. The total oppositie of how this mess has played out.

So the actual wa govt offer is now only 55 million in total

“There is no need to redevelop HBF Stadium for an NRL licence. The ground is vastly superior to many existing NRL grounds and has successfully hosted a number of international fixtures and competitions in recent times.”
What part of that statement isn't factually correct?

Brisbane2 got nothing so its $70mill times better than that lol

They made demands of Tasmania

And it was all very public and Tasmania caved

It’s going to ruin their credit rating lol

Oh the dribble. I’ve never come across anyone so hard up for a state premier before. Sickening.

What was the $300m WA Government investment in Oct and what are they not getting now from them?
