Cooks on:
Is deal dead? Remain open to boost WA sport and economy

Indication from media murmurings is NRL have decided not to include WA, no official conversation
Seems too difficult to bridge the gap to NRL expectations
Conversation with Abdo last week who expressed NRl were disappointed in the offer
Believes WA still offers a huge opportunity to NRL
Believes NRL see WA as a cash cow based on Tassie
Should have worked with private consortium to make sure WA owned and run
Should not have dismissed the bid out of hand and juts tried to copy what was happening in Tasmania
Read about what NRL was demanding in East coast papers before NRL talked to them, not respectful
Has to represent value for money and doesnt believe what NRL is asking for is feasible
Doesnt think there will ever be another premier this supportive of League
Looks like NRL are prepared to let opportunity to slip through it sfingers.

Sounds like we can put a fork in this!

I really hope Pvl tells cook to go do one

An afl premier would be easier to deal with

maybe some sports hating intellectual like Bob Carr might be the next premier …
I was at a function with bob carr and I wanted to wind him up

So when I got to meet him I said the best thing he’s ever done was fund the new stadium at Newcastle

He wasn’t impressed

Yes. I was listening. I’ll spell it out for you.

What Roger Cook said on the radio today is the exact same thing he said in the recent newspaper article. You know, copied and pasted.
You mean the sports ministers article? He was much stronger in this interview about them turning the bid down and thinking they could get a Tassie level deal out of the WA govt as being the reason.

Unless Albanese swoops in last minute with federal funding for HBF Park upgrades this looks like it will end in disappointment.

Isn’t perceived to be going out of his way to help rugby league

The wa opposition leader is a fumbler and he’s said he will support an nrl side

Cook isn’t doing rugby league any favours
They’d bow to media pressure in a second if they felt it would negatively impact them. They’d have no love for the sport and no desire to push the issue.

Read his full comments

He’s happy to support the same package cook is now
