because it goes hand in hand mate. news ltd lobbied for nothing, they extracted all they could without giving. including stadiums. if the olympics werent in sydney in 2000 then theyd have no big stadium there around that time.

I am just making a point , that a new team doesn’t need to be playing out of a brand new stadium from Day 1 …. Have a bit of patience to build a following and it will no doubt follow in due course … the rest of the stuff about News Ltd funding etc is really irrelevant to that point I believe

Yay let's have another shit stadium.
The NRL are trying to eliminate shit stadiums. Are you not paying attention?
Have you been? It isnt sht by a long way. The only thing it is lacking is modern corporate facilities. It’s got a great atmosphere, great location, over 25 boxes plus 200 corporate open air seats and is big enough , for now, to hold the likely 15-20k nrl crowd. It’s fine to kick off in and have a plan to redevelop in years to come.

Sure patience. So where's the contract for this new stadium that we're waiting patiently for?
O
Just " trust us bro"
Cool story.

Great! So show us the plans for redevelopment and the funds all allocated, the signed contract and we're all set !
O no contract? No funds allocated? No time frame for completion?
Just " trust us bro" ?

The WA government literally just did a backflip...but trust us? f**k me.

The contract doesn’t exist yet ..: it might never get upgraded but it will still be better than Shark Park though …

Anyway .. it’s all a moot point because the club isn’t coming in anyway right ?

They just upgraded Brookie and secured 50 million for Leichhardt.
These are historic grounds mate and both clubs still have access to better grounds when big games come up.

Why don't you want a good stadium mate?
You want a shithole?
Everyone wants to see HBF upgraded, but we understand why, politically, its been taken off the table for now.
If youre asking would I rather see a Perth Bears club playing at the current HBF with $7mill a year flowing to WA grass roots, or no Perth Bears, no grassroots funding and little chance in the future of ever seeing it, I think Im taking the choice #1!

The Storm also came into the comp when every team wasn't getting $14million grant, weren't even getting a quarter of that. So yes applying circumstances from the past to now isn't that relevant.

Unfortunately with how slow and infrequent NRL expansion has been over the past 30 years ..,we don’t have a lot of examples to go by

And that's why you aren't negotiating..thankfully.

I dont necessarily subscribe to the argument but its better than
Redcliffe Stadium
LO
Brookvale
Win
Kogarah
Campbelltown
Belmore

and not far behind the redeveloped Penrith when its done

something is better than nothing. The stadium isnt a deal breaker for me, I like HBF, its old school but big and modern enough with enough facilities to work.
I wanted to see grassroots funding, which we've got and support for the club, which weve got.

In reality people like you an Wb cant look at something without your afl hate glasses on and believe as Tassie got X so should Perth, even thought they are totally different scenarios. If theyd announced $200mill for HBF youd be screaming they should be spending $500mill on a new stadium.

We are talking about how both codes have handled the 19th club. Nice little rant though l

:rolleyes:Check your post that's not what you stated initially .Your words not mine"I look at how the expansion TO 19 clubs".
That to me is the gradual process to grow the numbers to 19.
Perhaps if you had said the process to bring in the 19th club , you may have a point.
Call me pedantic but you changed the wording now.

Yes, my point is that the conditions now are a lot better for expansion into new markets than they were 25-30 years ago. Storm entered in a tumultuous time for the game. It will be a lot more stable for Perth. Further shows how dumb the NRL is for not coming to an agreement with WA govt.

to be patient ? You and I have never been to HBF but it did get an upgrade three years ago
It was wonderful seeing Townsville get a great ground, Parramatta, Melbourne, Gold Coast, Roosters, Penrith are next, we need to push for Canberra.
We are slowly eliminating this second rate facilities giving our game the prestige it deserves.
We don't want to be taking a step backwards.
Imagine seeing a sold out Te kah stadium in Christchurch.. that will be beautiful. That's what our game needs.
