Didn’t realise Port Moresby had the same time as Sydney lol

Day games in png could be a bit of a punish with the heat

They could held full Friday 6 pm

The running the Sunday night games for the rest of the games

Channel nine will never want to show them so Thursday and Friday nights plus Sunday 4 are a no go
I wouldn't bother approaching anyone with a contact that's played the Darwin game....

Going to market with only one new team being png and hopes to cut the number of rounds back by two isn’t exactly a great plan for the tv negotiations

The extra content was important

Might cost them 50 million pa which is stupid given the new club would cost less than half that.
They've effectively turned down $120millon of investment in the game in WA and gone to tv with one club that adds no value to tv rights beyond the ninth game slot. Outstanding work Vlad!

6.15 game is a bit of bad time slot for every club bar Perth
I am interested to see where the NRL and broadcast partners schedule the ninth game.

Maybe for the first half of the season, have Sunday night 6:15pm to coincide with daylight savings and public holidays, while in the second half, have four games on Saturday- 2pm, 4pm,6pm and 8pm.

And when Perth comes in, possibly at the backend of the next deal, the Sunday 6:15pm game becomes full time.

They offer the same as wa in that it’s 12 extra games to sell for eastern states viewers

I’m not as bullish on the tv deal now they have to forget about cutting two rounds and just go for the dollars and players have to stop being babies if they want pay rises

Not really. The goal is to improve the product. That's why they cut scenes from movies.
Super league goes for longer than NRL but it's easy to argue that they've watered down the product.
NFL goes for a shorter season...

Plus, they have stated a desire to grow the international game and this gives us a bigger window to do that !

Short term, maybe a smaller deal but long term, you're trying to capture people's attention, the longer things go, the harder that is. Especially if we end up having 10 games every week...there's only so much footy before it gets boring.

there is still only 9 games per week with 18 or 19 teams right?

PVL won’t survive another poor TV deal … he won’t have to worry about having to choose between the NRL gig or staying in Racing anymore
They’ve set a goal of 600 million a year which is a 50 percent increase

With 20 teams It would’ve been easy

I suspect they will be talking to tv and making provisions for Perth and nz2 if the dollars make sense

Except anyone watching in PNG doesn't add any value to the Australian tv companies. More viewers in the East because of Bears and West because of growing game interest a Perth club brings adds more advertising value and more audience.
