AFTER the NRL leaked to SMH saying they were turning down the offer, yes.
No leak, no running commentary from WA this week.
Why you some of you are trying to defend Vlandys for this disgrace is beyond me. Either he has leaked the story, or someone close to him has leaked the story, or SMH has made it up. Either way a message to Cook on April 4th when it broke is what any normal person in negotiations like this would have done.

Apparently its fine for the WA Govt to communicate via the Liberal newspaper that normally hates them to try to control the narrative ,, … but not for the NRL to do the same via the Sydney media

Again not even the issue if it is true or not, if it is it just makes it 100 times worse. When it broke any decent negotiator would have been on the phone either apologising for the leak or informing it was BS. The silence is deafening and probably very telling!

Once he comes out and declines the offer that’s it … now it’s just what the incredibly unreliable Sydney NRL media is claiming …whilst perhaps other things might be happening behind the scenes …

I don’t think there is a lot of room for hurt feelings in State politics

Problem is all the signs and history of this so far is when put in a corner Cook comes out swinging. he isnt goign to roll over. Hes already mentioned how NRl are a 'weird lot' to deal with.
Much more likely to get a result being professional, getting on a plane and sitting down in perth together than leaking sht to the media and hoping it pressures them, when all the attempts to do that so far have failed.

I can 100% guarantee Vlandys wont be in Perth this weekend if the commission vote tomorrow to scrap Perth! In fact I dont think Ive seen Vlad in perth for any event ever. He seems to have natural aversion to the place!

They've effectively turned down $120millon of investment in the game in WA and gone to tv with one club that adds no value to tv rights beyond the ninth game slot. Outstanding work Vlad!

$60m licensing fee
$250m for rl programs in the pacific
The NRLs outlay ........................ fill in the space
Apart from the fact the Chinese have been nosing around PNG to get them involved in ventures. Shoosh maybe the odd base here or there ? This is also a security consideration.
The fact they have now a 9th TV slot for the heavily populated East Coast adds to the revenues viz a viz TV negotiations.

Man, you sided with the pawn broker when he was clearly in the wrong against the NRL. Now you're siding with a politician when they are clearly in the wrong.
You obviously hate the NRL... but want a team?
If the NRL is so terrible, just go. Go watch the Dockers.

Cook has got the upper hand though .. Maybe as you alluded too,,, they chuck in an extra $5m and he still looks like he has taken PVL to the cleaners …

It seems like a lot of effort to “put in the bin” and start again in two years time …and all the problems are still going to be there then for the NRL

i also think redblackbears is right, literally none of these people are losing sleep over this. if it didn't work out now, oh well it'll get another chance under different circumstance sooner or later.

its pretty evident to most peoples with half a brain that wa gov cooked this up. not vlandys. because even if vlandys had been leaking shit to media then the numbers he was after would not have been this big secret to wa gov and it wouldnt have been a shock to wa gov when their little offer was smashed to smithereens.

i think bear is 100% right when he says there was some sort of agreed to value and when it came time to complete negotiations, wa gov pulled funding away and in turn it caught nrl by surprise because of broken agreements and bingo here we are.

no way would they have gottens this far along if nrl knew wa gov were only investing peanuts like what was offered. nrl probably havent said anything because the arlc need to formally meet first... its a committee, its not rocket surgery is it.

I hate the way NRl does its business at times and how they are screwing this golden opportunity up.
I love RL, always have always will.
if it doesn't happen so be it, My Sl team are sitting top of table, I'll keep following my NRL club from afar and looking forward to one day having the time to volunteer at my local NRLWA club.
A perth NRL club would have been a great thing for Perth and my dissapointment is more for our grassroots and the kids than me having a club to call mine own in NRL. But yeh I'll go watch AFL lol, Im not Wb.
