Brad Arthur has spent over a decade I think coaching NRL and currently a head coach in SL, he has coached Parramatta to a grand final. He's still connected to current talent, administrators and assistants.
When you're looking around for an experienced first grade coach to get a team off the ground... there's really not a better option.
He might even thrive under this new franchise, unburdened by history and expectations.

*Under the terms of the final agreement over Perth, it is understood the WA government has committed to spend:

- $35 million on grassroots football over the next seven years;

- $25 million on content over the next five years; and

- nearly $6 million on helping with costs of the new side.

While the WA government will not pay a licence fee, a further $20 million will be committed to a Centre of Excellence with a promise that there will likely be an upgrade of their home ground - HBF Stadium.

This masthead understands that the ARL Commission will run the new Perth franchise for a minimum of five years before it becomes a member-based club.*

Some good detail here that I haven't seen in other articles. The most intriguing one to me is the 25 million dollars for content over 5 years.
Interesting what it could be for, assuming it would cover 2 origin games in that period plus a double header and game at hbf each year.

From memory they paid 5 million for an origin and double header for 1 year a while back which would leave a lot of value to be recouped in other content to reach 25 million. Could they get magic round one year or something similar. Maybe just some more double headers and games at hbf until 2027?
$86M investment in the game plus a commitment for a stadium upgrade in the near future is actually a pretty good deal. Well done to all involved. Hopefully the content they are talking about will include a continued double header over and above the Bears games (as in Bears be an "away" team at the double header).

I'd like to see the NRL approach Victoria for a double header at the MCG each year during AFL's Reach Around. Storm v Someone / Warriors v Someone. Should be able to pull 40k + as a starting point, stick with it and build it.

NS 500 jnrs + WA 4000 jnrs + $5mill a year WA jnr funding + hopefully Norths group getting serious about funding NS = a great talent pathway. Will take a few years but looking forward to seeing NS and WA jnrs debuting for the Perth Bears.

Going to be interesting to see how the elite pathways is set up. Hopefully WA is the base for it as much as NS, we don’t want another Melbourne scenario.

Whoa there - we are talking about the Bears now.

The drought & let-downs THAT fanbase has had to endure makes "No Premiership since 1986" sound like nothing.

At the end of the day, we all got what we wanted. Perth Red got his team
And we all got to witness him be completely wrong one last time.
Was it 2 weeks ago that the NRL will never get a better opportunity? It took 2 weeks for there to be twice as good an opportunity.
I think it's a Perth Red record wrong.
We all knew he had it in him.

If there is an annual double header in Perth with the Bears as the "away" team, then they can afford to take one "home" game to Sydney. Preferably at Allianz, not at NSO.

And the teams who play their 'home" game in Perth, should be the "away" team in Magic Round the same year. Teams involved in Vegas should not play in the Perth double header in the same year, apart from the Bears. Clubs would go to Vegas once every five years.

You want each team to have 11 home games at a minimum.

The whole starting lineup will be named Arthur (and a few Fullers - they are twice as good).
