You missed off the bottom “ in my opinion” lol
No mate, if I wanted to add something with the words “in my opinion” it would be that in my opinion you’re a muppet who hasn’t the faintest clue about majority of the topics you love to discuss ad nauseam

Reading your opinions here is like reading the garbage The West publishes. Get a clue bud and try be a bit smarter with what you think things “should be” like by understanding the context and circumstances around the topics you throw yourself at.

You’ve had 20 years to think about how a club should be run and your first option for a chief executive is to have a bloke who 2 clubs notoriously bad for management in the last decade looked at. Please. Think bigger mate.

You'd hope so, but is Vlad that smart or will he let his NSWRL nostalgia cloud decisions? Ideally I would like to see a board appointed and a CEO before any decisions on branding are made. They should be engaging the branding experts and field testing with fans on both sides before making the decisions like this for the club, not Vlandys and Abdo.
The board make up and members on it are already tentatively locked in.

Further to this NRL own the club and the duo of V’Landys and Abdo have a great track record, commercially.

Whatever decisions are made I’m sure will be the right ones. Don’t ever forget that these are the NRL administrators that brought not just the Bears back, but Perth back to - the next time you undoubtedly want to take aim at them.

It’s not passive aggressive J, I just think you’re a muppet. Plenty of people who worked hard for WA RL and for Bears return deserve this. You ain’t one of them.

Maybe I’ll do it when you acknowledge on this forum that you’re a hack. That all your info over the months was wrong. That all you’ve done is over sensationalised things to the point you were doing more harm than good to the chat. Your anti-PVL crusade was off the mark. We can start there bud and then I’ll look at adding yellow to my name. 🤣

It would be good if the Bears coming back was accompanied by the swans having a decade of disaster. I think a lot would come back then.
Well the Waratahs are doing their bit

Union was way stronger there (loads of private schools in norths catchment)

If the bears can recapture that market it will be huge and also hurt the swans and Waratahs

Everything about this is spot on

But you’re being a bit hard on him I thought Peter parr wasn’t a bad idea too

Granted after reading what you’ve said we were wrong but at least he gave what I thought wasn’t a terrible opinion

Take Perth red for what he is that’s how he posts

He’s done a lot for your team to exist behind the scenes including lobbying two? Queensland nrl clubs for their support

Your both two people whose teams got cut bc of super league

Your not wrong about how people can come across on the net

Canberra 22.3k
Cronulla 16.5k
Manly 18.6k
Melbourne 33.5k
Newcastle 34.9k
Cowboys 17.6k
Dragons 13.6k
Tigers 9.2k

Most clubs haven't indicated numbers.

That's actually concerning given the "fans" out there. Absolutely swamped by comparison to AFL numbers (GWS lowest with 32k, Carlton 96.4k).

I was skeptical about the value of bringing the bears brand back and still am however I’m willing to give benefit of doubt. The biggest risk ofcourse is making WA people feel like it’s not their team and not supporting it. The NRL must call them Perth to mitigate that risk - no ambiguous titles.

Asides from that, the NRL aren’t stupid they must have some good intel that reviving the bears brand and attaching it to Perth has strong upsides. I’m starting to see that goodwill in the media on the east coast at least, this team will definitely get a lot of interest on the east coast by being called bears that’s guaranteed. Now will this translate to more tv viewers, more members, more sponsors etc I don’t know but it seems like it would.

Are there lots of north Sydney bears fans that turned away from the game and would be willing to give it another shot with a Perth bears team? I’m sure there will be some, not sure if it will be significant. Those people would likely still support their ‘new’ team ie swans or Waratahs, can’t see them abandoning that.

If they can achieve the best of both worlds scenario of capturing a new market in Perth, as well as tapping into a dormant Sydney fanbase, it would be a powerful combination. Away crowds in Sydney and even Brisbane could be stronger than otherwise would be for an interstate team.

I don’t know if it will significantly increase foxtel subscribers like some think but it very likely will increase tv viewers of games featuring Perth in Sydney.

The nrl need to do all they can to make sure it is truly a Perth team - simply the brand recognition itself will do the heavy lifting in Sydney to attract dormant and curious Sydney fans. They need to make sure that people in WA feel it is their team - don’t take home games to Sydney especially.

I don`t necessarily agree, North Sydney Bears fans will get tired very quickly of calling it "their" club once they realise that all their homes games are played on the other side of the country and if they want to see them over here they will have to travel and be an away fan at someone else`s ground !
That`s going to make it very hard to claim it as their club.
Old world thinking

I think you may be surprised. Human psychology when it comes to sport attachment is a very funny thing. There are die hard fans of clubs who've never even seen the club play live.
There will be a % that follow NRL, or an adopted club, that dont currently have the emotional buy in of watching a game and cheering their team. For them having a team called Bears in predominantly red and black will be enough for them to commit. Watching sport as a passionate fan of a club playing trumps watching a game as a neutral every day of the week.
Exactly. Look at how many Australians support the NBA, NFL & EPL clubs. The percentage that have seen those club play in person. Would be quite low. Even less have seen those clubs play at the clubs home ground but are still emotionally connected to those clubs.

Your statement above makes it sound like the Bears would be the only team in Sydney after 25 seasons without a team in the entire city.

As you said, there are 5 million people in Sydney; however, the majority of them already support another team. According to Roy Morgan; there is over 3.2 million supporters of the 9 existing Sydney based NRL teams.

The overwhelming majority of people who would support the Bears; are already watching NRL and supporting another club. Sydney is not a growth market; it’s a market that already has 9 teams including some of the smallest supporter bases in the league.
OK mate. There's around 50 to 100 people actively posting on here. 4 or 5 at least I've seen are Bears fans. That's 5%
5% of 5 million is 250,000.
It's probably not that but it's not negligible.
It'll show up in the ratings, you'll see

Honestly. You're going to a lot of effort to
ignore the existence of a demographic.
