Not great, not terrible. For the squad he's got they should be better. How's Burgess going in ESL? He's certainly a higher profile than Arthur, possibly a better draw card for players too.

Mixed one, Burgess brings the profile and media presence but Id argue Arthur is far more experienced and accomplished coach. Personally I think the club needs someone with a lot of experience. there's a ton of work to do in setting up all systems right across the club. Not something for a rookie coach I wouldn't have thought.
People in those business positions change their minds quite regularly on business opportunities. The game was in a different position in 2020 then what it is in 2025.Someone's changed their tune! 5 years is a long time in politics and sport lol
Vlandys:
2020 “Forget wasting millions in rusted-on AFL states. We must undertake a full analysis [of growth markets] but Perth does not have a huge league audience. Then there’s the concern around flying NRL players five hours when we already hear criticism of player workloads and how taxing the season is on the stars of the game.”
2025: 'Perth is a goldmine for the NRL. It has enormous potential. It gives us a national footprint to a degree and the time zone works really well with our global and expansion strategies.'
Cook said that Perth was on the same time-zone as 60% of the world`s population when he was talking up the Perth bid. Now PVL is talking about our global and expansion strategies being enhanced by having the Perth team."the time zone works really well with our global and expansion strategies." V`landys.

I think PVL is referring to South Africa, Cook, I`ve got no idea!

Yes , we've been lucky that Cook is an enthusiastic as what McGowan was.My reading why they have gone Perth and not another QLD or NZ team. The latter 2 will probably always be an option in the future while the NRL might never have a pro-NRL premier in WA again, or at least in most our lifetimes, so it is a case of now or never.
We got very lucky indeed with our Premiers, if it'd been left to the NRL we'd have been waiting another 25 years!Yes , we've been lucky that Cook is an enthusiastic as what McGowan was.
From an inside source who asked me to respond on the condition of anonymity(hullo Buzz) , it will depend on how far climate change has impacted Perff this year.Hey PR, I see your still going strong with your quest to have a WA team, good effort.
Sorry if this has been asked before as I'm not a regular.
What is the general feeling amongst the rugby league community in the Perth district regarding the brand name and colours?
Are the majority happy with the prospect of continuing the legacy of an old Sydney based team or would they prefer their own sole identity?
Is there unique parts of WA that play the game similar to East Coast City/Country or interstate Qld.
Where is the broader game played at junior level and subdistrct?
Who and where are the pathways and junior development.
Who will be the feeder club/s.
Do you think it has any chance of folding in the future as did the Western Reds (I know that it was a different league)
Do you envisage travelling issues for teams such as Perth, PNG, Melbourne, NZ and rep games, particularly if backed up. I know this could be avoided by scrutinised and careful planning but one thinks it's bound to happen. The distance from Perth to Auckland is a tad long or can you see Perth players living on the East Coast.
Cheers big ears.![]()

Yeah probably. Just not sure if Arthur has a good name amongst players.Maybe in the ESL he does but I dont think thats the case in the NRL, Brad Arthur coached the Eels for 11 years. Burgess has been coaching for just over one season in the ESL.

Why can’t we be friends? Twiggy sees opportunities for Force and Perth Bears
Rugby Australia is preparing for the threat of the NRL’s expansion, which will see two cashed-up teams on the hunt for 60 more players - at least.www.brisbanetimes.com.au

Let him lobby for the new stadium so it gets less backlash
And perhaps they can sell the club to him once the nrl divests it and he’s gotten sick of the force
If he sees the bears average double or triple what the force do I’m sure it would encourage him to jump ship
Forces crowds aren’t 7k either that’s bs it’s less
