I also don't think people realise you don't need a direct blow to the cranium. I good poleaxe across the jaw will cause a very bad contra coup injury. Whiplash gives concussion. People have even had concussion from intractable coughing fits.

The poor brain is a sitting duck.

This is ironic

But don't bike helmets help to protect against head injuries? If not, why are they mandatory to wear? Are they for scratches and cauliflower ear? I'm being a smarta**, but isn't it the same principle?
Bike helmets and head gear different concepts.

Bike helmets are not to prevent concussions. They are to prevent your skull fracturing when hitting a hard object/surface.

Ski helmets are an interesting one to look at. We basically went from no one wearing helmets to everyone wearing them over the last 20 years.

General consensus is that traumatic brain injury / concussions have not reduced at all, some studies put it at higher rates now. Probably due to the false sense of security. But also, general consensus seems to be that they will help with penetration injury / skull fracture and possibly cervical spine injury.

The types of soft, thin helmets nrl players wear would only help with cuts / cauliflower ears. Can’t see us ever going down a hard helmet road…and there aren’t the skull fracture type injuries to warrant it anyway.

Reminds me of the current situation of mandatory face masks on public transport when they are like putting up a chain wire fence to stop mosquitos, as far as stopping disease is concerned, in fact they do more harm than good!

Not enough of a drop off in testing rates to support your claim.

Biden didn’t bring mandatory wearing of face masks though. He signed an executive order making all Covid safety protocols mandatory(including the wearing of face masks)in all Federal government owned buildings.
