Petersen's error in the in goal didn't lead to a try yet that did stop people bagging him

and Petersen's error in the in goal v Warriors actually led to a Parra try due to a short drop out.

I'm not sure but wasn't it McKinnon who dropped the ball that saw Manly get it back and kick the field goal?

As I said dropping McKinnon might be harsh and he has done some very good things but he has made a lot of errors this year.

It was Petersen diving for the kick that didn't make it to him and then scrambling to knock the ball dead that gave them the field position for the field goal.

ah, thought it was after that

ok thats fine.

wasn't trying to blame McKinnon for the field goals but for people to say that a player can make 5 errors a game as long as none lead to a try is stupid

Dropping players who are off contract next year for those that are is going to leave us a bit thin in the ranks. ;-) If Wade goes and Jol stays then Joel gets plenty of time next year to cement the job. Only problem is then you'll want Hayne..... :p

I said that because I think its silly to re-sign Wade if we have Reddy. We should choose 1 and stick with it. I was just going in a tangent. I however will probably want Hayne. He has more talent then both of them put together. ;-)

The question is whether the good things he does are outweighed by the errors he is making - and I think they clearly are NOT outweighed and he should stay.

He has set up a stack of tries in the opening rounds and may have cost us one or two along the way.

We lose him and we lose huge impetus in attack. His positioning on kick returns has largely been excellent. His support play is brilliant and he can beat a man on returns or close to the line.

Up until last 3 games I would have said Petersons errors WERE more significant than his contributions, but I think he has reversed that over the last few weeks.

Significantly, I would say that Luke Burt's errors in reserve grade far outweighed his contributions.

I said yesterday I would prefer Reddy in the top grade, but gee Wade wasnt nearly as bad as others after watching the replay. Wade will hold his spot.

the wildcard that nobody has mentioned yet with joel is what is going to happen with rod reddy.

smithy going to newcastle, jt going to souths, sharp gone to hull - the old boys club is getting pretty thin.

if hagan decides that rod is not needed, will be interesting to see if joel might ask for a release.
and if no release, will joel just stick around until his contract finishes and then bugger off

It's just a discussion. That is what forums are for. Some people on these forums (especially the ladies) would never drop anyone and we would have 25 players playing first grade every week.

And I'm not allowed to put forward my opinion of what i think of it??? I think it is a bloody stupid comment, nowhere did say it couldn't/shouldn't be discussed

And I frequently say who I think should be dropped and who I think should be retained

Sorry I apologise for being female.... again. I obviously have no opinion and will go back to the kitchen where I belong

whats for tea Hellsy? :D

Wade has been one of our best this season but has had a lean few weeks. Some critical mistakes have hurt but afterall he is playing at the back in a pressure position. A positon which cannot hide any mistakes made. IMO lets not panic with him because he will come good.

at the moment Peto's the only bloke who shouldn't be any where near first grade, I'd prefer anyone on that right wing but him.

I agree 100%.
The only changes that need to be made is Cordoba back in the forwards and either Hayne or Inu on the wing for Peto.

If anyone replaces Peto, then it has to be Johnny Williams. Give the kid a chance. Peto whilst scoring that ripper try really lacks any defensive skills.

I cant believe people on here are bagging Mckinnon. He has been great for us this season and is one our best this year. I agree he had a barry on Sunday but geez come on lets look at the big picture.

As for Peto. The bloke my not have all the skills but geez his go a heart like a lion and has a damn go. I'm happy for him to stay where he is.

The Reddy/McKinnon debate is going to intensify as the season goes on....

I personally would drop McKinnon and put Reddy in. I think Wade has been consistently good and solid this year, but that doesnt mean that he should be picked over a guy like Joel or Hayne.

I've been saying it all year...so dont say I'm just stressing or panicing, plenty of people liked what they saw in Joel last year when he was in top grade, and then HE was the one who was harshly dropped.
