Hard to be too disappointed with that. After the highs of the week before, I thought the team acquitted themselves well. They were in what became an arm wrestle right up until the very end. I though defensively they made a lot of great plays against a mountain of possession. Marky Mark will learn a tough lesson where he was too worried about the inside runner on their first try.

Offensively we barely got a chance at their end. It was mostly played between the 20m lines and predictably we get no help whatsoever from the officials in terms of field position. I thought we were outright unlucky not to break the game open at 6-4 with the Marky Mark no try which was an incredible effort and then the Tupou pass that went to touch. I know if it goes to hands we score but that was tackle 1 and more poise is needed. We are odds on to score the next play or two if he takes the tackle.

I have a couple of issues with the officiating. What was the bunker looking at when the warriors challenged that knock on? It clearly was lost in tot he roosters player then went flying out the back. They some how come up with a knock back which defies the laws of physics given he was facing forwards and not trying to pass the ball. unfathomable. Also, why were we required to challenge on the play where Teddy tried to shepherd the ball out? These are always checked but Klein "accepted our challenge because they wouldn't have enough time to check". This is not the first time this has happened to us and it resulted in a lost challenge.

I maintain a blief that we are truly cursed re: injuries too. Radley went off again for HIA and then Watson missed the whole 2nd half.

3 Teddy
2 Leniu
1 Whyte

Overall, pretty happy with the effort but we need to back it up and beat the titans this week. We don't want to be 1-3 going in to souths, Brisbane and Penrith. 2-2 will be completely fine.

Yep the mix of not being judicious enough on the edges plus being two middles down and not having the halves to compensate was very tough.

3 - Ted
2 - Whyte
1 - Spence

That try you refer to that Marky let in was actually caused by what happened in the ruck. Watson was flipped so we had no marker. Egan showed how clever a dummy half he is by taking a simple 3 - 4 steps, which immediately put the defence on the back foot, leading to them all to turn in and hence Marky copping it for letting the try in - damage was done in the ruck sadly but it was very clever from Egan.

Anyway, more positives than negatives for mine. I still think it's gonna be a season of ups and downs but I like the effort I'm seeing so the team will be in most games I feel, but probably not winning as many as we'd like.

This has been the Achilles heel of our defensive system for years. And why Grant tears us apart.

It works when we've got high energy and trust but a dummy half capable of playing at the ruck (vs behind) tears us up.
