Wallace in NSW team

NSW must be one pretty bad team in 08..if they need Wallace.

Brisbane now have the NSW halfback...another player stolen from another club.

Peter Wallace was hardly stolen. Panthers couldn't afford him while we had $400k a season going to Craig Gower.

That said, Peter Wallace made a great decision for his career (money aside). Wayne Bennet and Darren Lockyer developed him into the player he is today, and Andrew Johns and Craig Bellamy are going to turn him into an Origin player. If he had stuck with the Panthers, he wouldn't be half the player he is today.

Great game from Peter Wallace tonight. What an awesome move to the Broncos he has made, under the guidance of Bennett and Lockyer he's grown and was great tonight under the guidance of Bellamy - looking like he could be a superstar of the future, and he's a Bronco at number 7, finally!

i guess that's one positive we can take away from tonight... Broncos premiership odds just shortened.

It was the absolute best thing for Brisbane, that QLD lost tonight. More time Wallace spends in origin, with Johns coaching him, the better.

For the long term, absolutely. But it means we're f**ked for our game against the Raiders.

must admit after seeing last night's performance that Wallace is a pretty good player and is possibly a worthy heir to Joey he just needs to perfect his kicking game first.

see the commentators curse strike again last night as soon as they started praising him he kicked the ball out on the full!

good 2 see another broncos stepping up 2 origin level!, although i would of prefered the result 2 go the other way!!

Why would they be?

Bennett turned him into a rep player. He wouldn't have even been in talks for Origin if he was at the Panthers.

quick question...

Is Wallace off contract this year or has a window he can speak to other clubs later in the year?

If he is off contract is it plausible that Broncos wouldn't be able to fit him in under the salary cap?

Good question, considering the Falou contract as well. On last night's performance he basically doubled his price. Halfbacks are the highest paid in the game.

Having said that, Wallace has credited Bennett for getting him into the Origin team in the first place, so it will be interested to see what he does considering Bennett is leaving.

Some players are motivated by money, others ... by other things that are a little deeper (William Wallace from Braveheart comes to mind).

Dazzat you're spelling Izzy's last name wrong it's Folau but don't worry you've got until next year to get used to spelling it that way.

I think 2009 will be lockyers last year, which is good timing for Wallace's new contract. Wallace is here until the end of the 2009 season

Wallace is on a 3 year deal guys, finishes in 2010 obviously. However the contract will be reassessed after this season for obvious reason- probably extend that deal.

yep and Lockyer will go at the end of 2009, we'll use some of that money to give to Wallace

Quinn's manager is starting to meet with Storm officials about getting Quinn one for some reason he thinks his client deserves it.
