I read the the telegraph today that Leary stated we are done signing High Profile players...

Few problems with this..

A)...Who the hell is high profile out of whom we've signed. They are all just solid first graders, or young players at best.

B) We had $1.3mill and that included the fact we may re-sign Clinton and Wallace and now both are gone..surely we have more than that.

C) Tighe $170k, Woolnough 200k, McCrone 50k, Williams 75k.....plus upgrades to the likes of Grant, Jennings etc...wouldn't make up $1.5 million.

My question is....surely to christ Woolnough and Tighe arn't the "two best players on the market"...and where the hell has the other money gone?...I mean seriously...$1mill doesn't just disappear from our salary cap...either we've signed someone and it hasn't been announced yet...or we're still paying massive overs.

We got rid of one of the nuff nuffs that we were paying overs for for 3 years thank god...but how many others...Tony P should give back half his salary to be honest...

we will have a 2 mil war chest next year, but we wont pay overs for anyone, we have good young players comming up and we need to sign them, but we cant sign them all ( if any)
We NEED to go hard after Petro, even if he only has 3 years left, most props dont become first grade material til 21-22, and Petro can teach the likes of Grant and Co so much!

Only too true, unfortunately.

It's the same line they've been feeding us since 2005... every season, we've let players go and promised that the following season it will give us the funds to go hard on the market to get some marquee players, and then the next season we let players go and promised that the following season... well, you get the drift.

We would surely have to be the most poorly administered club in the NRL.

yeah they had the key

they also had a little mud map that the pirates left them but it was unreadable to the panthers so they just found shratnel lying around and just got whoever they could find

I still find it amusing how many supporters hold Shane Richardson in such high regard considering he was responsible for the beginning of our subsequent decline.

I read in the Rabitohs forum that Ben Rogers is off contract this year. We should perhpas look into bringing him back since he has brilliant ball playing skills and a good kicking game.

Has been playing some pretty good footy and I'd prefer him over some of our current options for next year.

Wouldn't cost much either.

Now amongst that lot is well over a million. Too late for 2008 as there is noone left other that Petro and we have missed the boat there.

Well i'd offer Petero a structured deal...$600,000 next season...then $300,000, then $275,000 the next year

that way we maximise our funds for the years after next...because lets face it..not that much available.

I'd like to sign Scott Geedes tbh...despite his injuries i think he'd be a good pick up for the engine room...esp if Frank Puletua leaves.
