Wow...Mateo isn't allowed to comment because he's no longer at the club?

Those are some pretty damning comments and given Anderson wasn't exactly on his Christmas card list from some reports, what reason would he have to lie? I don't see why he should cop it for his comments, he's not whinging about the club letting him go or about his supposed tiff with that idiot Price...he's seemingly simply saying something that some people dislike and copping it for no other reason.

I remember a dirt track up that way or whatever it was. As an older kid used to walk one of dads greyhounds long-distance up that way. Gees that is a long time ago... James Ruse Drive.... If I remember correctly, they started building that new road/Victoria rd interchange in the late 60's. Back in the early 60's there used to be many paddocks around Rydalmere etc. Loved climbing trees and eating fruit from some of those paddocks. Loved walking along the railway track towards Dundas/Carlingford, sometimes even along the creek, catching turtles, toxic fish, tadpoles, etc. It didn't take long for the industrial shift into that area during the mid/late 50's to wreck that creek.

James Ruse drive was started and built in the 70's - pretty much around the same time they did the 4 lane upgrade to Kissing Point Rd. We moved into Dundas in 1971 - from Harris Park. I remember the road upgrades well. Kissing Point Rd took forever.
I used to do the same thing Casper - lived a stones throw from The Ponds Creek, and used to catch tadpoles and frogs all the time. I spent my life as a kid playing footy and cricket in the grasslands beside the creek. Ahhhhh, those were the days.
Used to walk to either Telopea or Dundas stations to catch the "Carlo Comet" to Clyde, and then onto our away games. God it was a long way home in the dark for a kid.

Suity... Once we become strangers to each other, we can start doing harm to each other. Community is so important to the long-term well being of great community clubs like the eels, they provide immunity against what has been tearing our club apart for some years now. Once we lose the values that built such communities it is like threads unthreading from the fabric of community; each member, for whatever reason, being a thread walking away from community values and morals, leaving behind a frayed club. It is sad to witness what has become of our club. It is not too late to turn things around, to re-thread a community who truly care for each other so that no bullsh*t can creep in and cause havoc again.

This is where we differ Casper. We DON'T live in a perfect world. You say it is sad to witness what has become of our club. I suggest you take a reality check here.
So, what HAS become of our club? Sprout all the moral bullsh*t you like. We live in a business minded world, and we need to make business minded decisions if we want to be successful. Sure, things haven't been done perfectly, or to everyone's liking. There is stuff 3P promised and haven't delivered that I'm not too thrilled about either.
Are we better off than we were two years ago? I don't know whether we are.
But I ain't about to turn my back on the club that has given both tears and joy for the majority of my life.
Do I expect them to behave perfectly? In a Utopian world yes. In the real world - hardly.
The way you carry on, you must be the perfect example of scruples and morality.

It's about taking responsibility and not acquiescing to mob rule (chaos).
It has nothing to do with Utopia, it has all to do with saying NO to chaos.
How hard is that?????? To say NO!!! and stand your ground...
Based on your summation, and your a builder, you must have a long line of pissed off clients, all living in what was to be their dream-home only to be living in sh*thouses!:lol: Your reality "we don't live in perfect (well-built) homes" (not having a go at you, just an analogy)

I am not backing off from the club either. I do my best on this forum pissing everyone off so they can join AFL. up the road. I hope some of my comments act as moisture absorbed by brick walls. If a Madonna can weep, I hope the Eels club will too... realise where it is all going wrong and fix it. I am very grateful this forum exists allowing me from the distance to get the hose out and spray the club, obviously within the guidelines of our esteemed administrators.... Anyone for a hose?

It must have been the building of the new intersection or whatever --- Victoria Rd & James Ruse Drive, or could have been something else between the bridge over the rail line and what is now James Ruse Drive..... I remember all those works going on before we moved from Rydalmere 1968 to Bronte/Waverley.

That's fine Casper, and we'll have to agree to disagree. You use the word chaos. That's the difference between you and I.
I don't feel we are in a state of chaos. If we were, I'd hope that Chief, 99 and Max would sort out that devilindished Zigfreid.

I've got confidence that we are in reasonable hands, despite what the Telegraph and Hadley would lead some to believe.

As I, and (some) others have stated, I'm now confidently looking forward to next season, while a month ago, I was worried about a repeat performance of 2010.

Just my views mate.
The world is not perfect. I don't ever expect it to be either.

I see that Mateo will be playing for Tonga on the weekend in the test match vs Samoa (curtain raiser for the Oz vs PNG match at Parra Stadium). This means that he has given up trying to play State of Origin for NSW.

Sad that a player of his potential is not prepared to get his mind and body in the shape require to play at the highest level.

Or maybe he is just very proud to represent his country and his heritage means more to him.

That would be the glass half full interpretation. He wasn't all that loyal a couple of years back when his form was causing selection chatter and he declared his allegiance to play for NSW over Tonga.

Mateo would have to find a whole lot of form to be considered an origin player.

Way too inconsistent.
Bra_Eel :D
Anyway, back to the main point.
Yes, Mateo needs to string at least 1/3 seasons worth of consistency, shame considering his talent.
I wonder how the Warriors work with him, i'd imagine they'd take a leaf out of Pricey's book and 'be up his ass so hard'.
