Steve Price has become a great ambassador for the game over there. He's a credit to the code IMO.

totally agree. he seems almost faultless. my missus loves him (and shes a kiwi) and a distant second is Dane Carlaw of looks like tarzan plays like jane fame!

I think Price really won accord when he initially signed with the club. People saw it as a cash grab retirement journey, but he came over, wanted to know about the local people, the traditions of Maori-dom, and has passed on his knowledge to some good young props who are developing because of it. He's a real leader. Someone who is extremely marketable in our sport in NZ.

Read that story - great story. To give an idea on how much Price is revered, when he was a Bulldog playing at Ericsson in 2004, the year before he joined, after it had been announced... the Dogs were giving the Warriors fearful tap at Ericsson, Price came off with about 10 to go... he got a massive standing ovation from the crowd. There's a sense of respect for him, the article is dead right, over there Australian sportsmen are not really revered... this guy is treated like one of us. He is the tank crushing the barriers. He's an awe inspiring leader and to me he's hands down captain of the year just the way he molds not only the club, but the entire area into supporting not only the Warriors, but an Australian representing a Kiwi based club the way they do.

VODAFONE WARRIORS FANS URGED TO MOVE QUICKLY TO

SECURE LAST TICKETS FOR MANLY MATCH

Auckland, New Zealand, August 17, 2007 –
Tickets have been selling at record rates but some are still available for the Vodafone Warriors’ final home match of the regular NRL season against Manly at Mt Smart Stadium on Sunday week (August 26).

Vodafone Warriors chief executive Wayne Scurrah today confirmed all seated
areas – the East, West and South Stands – have sold out but he stressed there
were still tickets available for the northern embankment.

“On the back of the win against Gold Coast on Saturday we’ve had a phenomenal
response from the public this week,” he said.

“Tickets have been snapped up through Ticketek, Mad Butcher outlets and at the
Vodafone Warriors’ offices. Already more than 23,000 tickets have been sold.

“But there are still tickets available on the northern embankment and we’d urge
fans to move quickly on those if they want to have a chance of being at the game
next weekend.”

Scurrah stressed there were savings for supporters pre-purchasing tickets for the
northern zone. These cost $10 for an adult, $5 for a child or $30 for a family pass
(two adults and three children) and are available from Ticketek, the Mad Butcher
stores which have Ticketek systems and from the Vodafone Warriors’
headquarters at Mt Smart Stadium.

“It’s cheaper to buy now and the reality is it doesn’t look like there’ll be any
tickets available on the day anyway,” he said.

“Other than the home semi-final against Canberra in 2002, there hasn’t been a
pre-match sell-out at the ground since the club’s debut season in 1995 but it
looks like we will have one for this game.”

Scurrah said Mt Smart Stadium could hold a crowd of up to 27,000.

It went further than that. The Dogs were going to get the opening kickoff, and they were running to the north end.

Pricey walks down to the dead ball line and he's getting a standing ovation before the game begins - his reaction was priceless.

At $10 a ticket they should sell out. Unbelievable (and yes I know that not all adult tickets are worth a tenner).

Find a cheap enough return ticket online and a Mt Smart Jaunt will probably be cheaper than the 'privilege' of sitting in the Jane Try 'Stand.'

If they took out every second row of the Jane Try (and) Stand (up) it would be OK.

i think were not too bad when it comes to saluting great players. i was at the 3rd chappel hadlee ODI game in hamilton this year which was Glen McGrath's last game in NZ. every time the pidgeon would run onto the field with the water bottles (they rested him) the crowd and especially the embankment would bow to him like some sort of god..... it was crack up azzz.... we recognise great players.... except greagan... wanker....

No, which is a bummer, could be used to bring in revenue for the juniors... I think the legislation over in Auckland is pretty tight and it acts to create a monopoly for Sky Tower (casino). Speaking of Sky Tower, I think the after match functions used to be there, but nowadays they have a clubroom set up underneath the stand opposite to the side the away team runs out from where they have a few team functions.

Don't the Auckland Rugby league referees association have a leagues club just around the corner from Carlaw park?

What's everybody's obsession with Leagues Clubs

The AFL clubs are far more profitable and none of them have leagues Clubs!!

Better off maximising membership and sponsorship

Have nothing to do with them. They are a blight on society and make Clubs lazy, welfare recipients.

Most of them own 'social clubs' which is basically another name for Pokie Farms leagues clubs.
