Warriors - Friday night football?

Nein won't bother themselves to fly to NZ to broadcast the Warriors on FNF, it will be a Sydney game for them or maybe even a Qld game. That doesn't help the Warriors as much as it could, the sponsors paying for advertising at Mt Smart don't get their signs shown and so on.

This was a big issue for the Cowboys a few years back. It's not only getting on FTA but doing it at home as well.

Canberra's best chance would be on a sunny Sunday afternoon at Bruce. But they need to start winning or Nein just won't care. sh*t even when we did start finally winning, it still took Nein 12 months to care, the merkins.

in 2003 it took us winning 8 games in a row before Nein finally gave us a Channel 9 game.

Personally I watch every game of the round anyway and never miss a channel 9 game no matter who is playing.....

I think most league fans work that way too and a sunday clash of the raiders and the warriors wouldnt be the ratings disaster people seem to make it out ot be.

Of course it wouldn't.

But the implications of NOT showing these teams are massive. The Raiders have had trouble attracting a sponsor over the past few seasons (our current ones are signed up for 3 years so not a massive problem at the moment), and the key reason that we have been unable to find companies willing to sponsor us is lack of free to air matches. Without the free to air exposure, the sponsors don't see much return for their investment.

I support the concept that every team should be garanteed at least 1 friday night and 1 sunday game on free to air television every season in the 25 rounds.

I have foxtel so i dont really care but from a fan who doesnt have foxtel.

I think channel 9 should not look at whether its Canberra, Parramatta, Brisbane or Warriors. It should be based on results and results alone. Canberra have won a few games in a row but didnt get a channel 9 game because people at channel 9 probably thought they would cave, i dont like this. It should be purely on results of who gets the big games on channel 9 and not opinion or where they are from.

you'd think it could only be warriors away games on friday night broadcasted, given the time diff. involved for a home game that would see a match have to start at either 5:30 or 9:30

they will be unlucky to not make the 8 i reckon, although much centres around their ageing prop forwards, price and wiki.

grant rovelli could become a breakout star.

As others have mentioned Warriors home games can't really work for Nine live coverage as kickoff would be at 5:30, which would be a disaster for crowd support. However I reckon we deserve a friday night away game as long as we're in the eight or thereabouts.
We used to get a decent number of FTA games from mid 2002 when Nine finally realised we had a good team until early 2004 when our season wen't to sh*t. Since then we've been consistently ingnored, even when we were in good forma and in the hunt for the eight.

.But our club has done what it has always done by bringing juniors through and promoting the game in the country areas surroundsing the ACT and not by poaching oher players from other sides. They should be rewarded for this type of promotion.
So why did they cut funding for the Goulburn Stockmen then? Wests tigers get their juniors now.

The Friday Night game on Ch9 involving a Warriors home game in 2002/03/04 seasons actually didnt kick off at 5:30pm AET (7:30pm NZ), but 6:30pm AET (8:30pm NZ), with the game played on Ch9 at 8:30pm AET. So, infact, yes, it could work out if Ch9 had a Warriors Friday night home game, as it could be broadcast at 6:30pm (straight after the 6pm news). And forget about A Current Affair, it has been left off the broadcast on weekdays when there have been events, like sporting events, on.

Surely, we'll get some games soon enough, on FNF, or on Sundays.

Most likely, it will be games in Australia - Bulldogs v Warriors, for example, would be a great FTA match.

Also 4pm (NZ), 2pm (in most parts of Australia) games on Sunday, may also appeal.

I just had a quick look at the draw for the next five or so weeks.

Round 12 - Warriors v Bulldogs on a Sunday in NZ
The other game is Gold Coast v Canberra at Carrara

Something will budge there - at least one team will get its FTA game.

Round 13 - Warriors v Storm on a Sunday in NZ - week before SOO 2
The other game is Newcastle v Tigers at EnergyAustralia

We'll see the Warriors, perhaps, then.

Warriors v Bulldogs is already set down as a Channel 9 game Rovelli. The schedule isn't interchangable between Fox and Nine, only within each network.
