Warriors sign Todd Lowrie

Yeah, Lowrie hasn't exactly been a stand out player in a team coached by Bellamy...what the hell is he gonna be like under Blueless :/

Some experience is good, but this seems like a bit of a nothing signing when we have that spastic at the helm.

So overnight there were three signings announced- jonathon wright( an outside back) to the sharks. James Roberts( an outside back) to panthers and we sign, u guessed it, another backrower. I'm hoping this is a mix up and we actually got one of the other two

I think we did need 1 experienced backrower - but would have much preferred either David Stagg or (in particular) Michael Crocker. Still, it's something. Now please go out and sign David and/or John Williams.

Seriously..he is not an attacking player and gets targetted based on his small size.

I don't see what value he can add apart from coming off the bench.

He's not a bad signing because he adds experienced depth and wouldn't have been expensive. If we get half as much value out of him as luck or campion I'll be happy.

He talks and organises the defence around the ruck at the storm

Good player, good example with his attitude to training and preperation

2 year contract

I can live with that

I imagine that's the whole point of the signing. Even if he spent the entire year in the Vulcans he'd add value because these young guys coming from NYC would have that example to work towards.

Even if he and Neilson aren't first choice next season, at least we will have some experienced injury cover, which is better than bringing in a debutant everytime a first choice player goes down like Bluey has been forced to do this season.

I think Lowrie at least will be a starter next year.

I expect a second row of:

11 Mannering
12 Martel
13 Lowrie

14 Taylor/Benry
15 Lousi/Lousi/Rapira/Ikahihifo

...assuming we stick with a 4-forward bench. Personally I'd like to see a different approach.

Lowrie isn't super flashy but he is a good wrestler and will help secure slow play-the-ball for us. His experience will be valuable on and off the field. He's been working in the most professional NRL system for the past 3 years. All positive points.

My concern about Lowrie, and I haven't seen enough of him to form an opinion on his play, is that he is almost exclusively defence oriented.
Now we all know our defence has been shocking this year but that can be coached right.
Attack is more instinctive and with Maloney and Brown leaving I am concerned our attack will be severely depleted.
As well I think we are going to have to create space in the forwards for Manu.

I don't understand why we signed lowrie. Taylor and benry will be better next year and I am sort of hoping that they will play ropati off the bench next year because he can cover a lot of positions. We need to sign some one who can cover wing/centre.

Did you even watch Ropati this year? Taylor has been mostly unimpressive as well.

Todd is a bit of a meh, signing.

Our forwards havent been the problem this season.

Would prefer they save their $ and target a marquee back to join us. Someone like Benji Marshall would do us nicely.

While our backs have been the main problem this year, the forwards can't be given a pass for that. Some of the tries we've conceded have been embarrassing and part of that is the amount of space we're asking our centres/wingers to cover.

There's something going on in the middle that is causing us to bunch way too tight.
