Warriors struggle to free Famuina

Canberra have got to face the inevitable. Sione Famuina does not want to play for them, what good is he going to beto them next season???

It has all became a bit too much and Canberra are just being pig-headed over the whole thing. I'm sure they have put a lot of time, effort and money into him, but the player is homesick and hasn't adjusted well over there. Therefore, he is no good to them.

If Canberra got their brains out of their wallets and thought about the player's welfare, they would see that transfering him to Auckland would be in everyone's best interests.

The guy has a bright future and Canberra have no right to waste it. Take what the Warriors are offering and be thankful they stuck around to do the deal, is my advice. I'm sure we'll be seeing Famuina playing for the Warriors next season and look forward to it.

I thought we had already released him a while ago, at least thats the impression I got off people from the club. As long as the Warriors didnt offer him a big contract before he became "home sick" I see no problem with releasing him. I dont want him anywhere near first grade anyway.

I agree Ed, that gut should never be allowed near a first grade jersey. Bon voyage to a complete nuffy. Bon apeteit Warriors.

"Bon voyage to a complete nuffy".

Sounds like you Canberraboys are a bit sour.

Daniel Anderson reckons this guy has got what it takes. I have faith in Daniel. When the Warriors finnialy get him, the Warriors will have a very well rounded WHOLE squad.

The few times I saw him play he looked a little rough but the raw talent was there. You guys had him playing in the wrong position though anyway. He's forward not a back.

The Warriors with Famuina to go even better next season.

I think most Warriors fans (and management?)have a fairly favourable view of Faumuina becauseone of the few times they'veseen him was in that match at Manuka Ovalagainst us, in which from memory he was named the man of the match. Having said that I know you Canberra fans can get just about assour as devoutAll Black fans when things don't go your way, so I guess I'll have toreserve judgement on the Warriors chasing him.

Whether hesigns up or not,I'm still extremely confident about the squad we'll be lining up for 2002.I just hope our follow-up seasonisn't as miserable as the Wellington Lions' defence of the NPC was. WhenI wasthinking about the comparison it struckme thatthe two teams'traits are pretty similar -lots of flair, very inconsistent performances week-to-week ,eclecticmix of cultures, etc.Thankfully Daniel Anderson has reallytightened up the Warriors'on-field discipline since his arrivaland ourplayers are literally choir boys off the field as well, otherwise I would be worried aboutthe Warriors following the Lions into a complete plummet from grace.

Hey Kipper, I thought you had wondered off into oblivion after the Warriors' sad ending to the 2001 season.

Even though it's the off season, you should still be taking those Prozac. It sounds like you need them. Have a bit of faith, Kipper. I can't believe that you are still not sold on the new Warriors Management doing a good job.

I think it would be a good move getting Famuina. I think the Warriors would get the most out of him. We saw so many young guys shine last year and they will keepgetting better. But if Famuina hasn't got the goods, then he won't be playingfor the Warriors. I think competition within the club is going to be very strong, and Famuinais going to find it very difficult if hedoesn'tshow signs of his potential.

Let's look at the two areas that Famuina will likely be playing, Centre & the Back Row:

Centre: Carlaw, Toopi, Myles, Hape, Koopu.

Back Row:Campion, Swann, Guttenbiel, Lauiti'iti, Koopu.

A lot of talented guys to get overin both positions. I think the Warriors are in a very good position to better their 8th placing from last season.

So chin up, Kips. Everything gonna be alright.

I think Hape has been released if memory serves me correct. I am not bitter about him leaving, only bitter that he cost us a few games. From the looks of it he will be a bench player at best. Pick him at your peril.

Yes, it's been confirmed. Sione Famuina has been released by the Raiders and signed to a 3 year deal with the Warriors.

The bottom line is, if Famuina isn't good enough, he will not see 1st grade footy. There is a lot of competition for places now at the Warriors. But with the Warriors signing him to a 3 year deal, the kid must have something going for him.

Your loss, Our gain, I say!!!!

people like ridgey, kemp and even anderson wouldnt waste their time or club funds signing him unless he was the goods.

whoops - that's a bit hard on the eyes, could someone delete the post above?

Ah yes, I'll have to start popping in here more than once a week if the notorious Warrior is back banging heads and bluffing his way to positions of confidence! By the way, what part of "I'm extremely confident about the squad we'll be lining up for 2002" didn't you understand?!
You're a perceptive bugger when it comes to reading between the lines though, I'll give you that. There definitely is something about the snappy dressing, the corporate buzzwords, the designer facial hair and general nouveau riche-ness surrounding the Warriors that I'm still not entirely comfortable with. Are these guys suddenly the Puff Daddies of the rugby league world, or is it the "fake it 'til we make it" routine? It would be naive to think there won't be snakes as well as ladders in the Warriors' evolution, so are a group of inexperienced 30-somethings going to keep their heads as management (yes, including Ridgey) and know exactly what's needed to correct any serious problems that arise? If I didn't want the Warriors to succeed as much as I do, I wouldn't mind seeing these guys after a major internal rift or a 6 match losing streak. Would the upfront frankness stay, or would some upbeat spin start being churned out now that there's plenty of expectation to live up to? Only time will tell I guess, but Mick Watson's microphone-induceddaydreamsabout tri-code hybrid rule tournaments featuring the Hurricanes, the Chargers and special guest referees from Celebrity Treasure Island won't help muchwhen it comes to getting players out of public infamy or slumps in form, nor willanother one of his telemarketing-like"hello consumers, I run a commercial entity and Ithinkwedeserve more of your cash"pleashelp get fickle fans out of their cozy winter shelters and filling stands. Of course expanding your marketand creating more good will around the country might help....(yes, I am a very bitter little bitch about this - spot me in theblue and white next year!

No unhappiness here mate. I think the collective view from Raiders fans is he was a complete waste of money to the club as his game was bordering on piss poor. He may do well for the Warrios but a change of jersey can't hide wat this nuffy lacks.......ABILITY.
