Some quick thoughts from lower grades today:
Holden Cup (U20's):
o Almost nothing positive to come out of this game, we went behind early and at no point were we ever in it.. we were thoroughly outplayed
o Some positives were the 2 Centres who both had strong games
o Be really interesting to see how Hornby/Deano go when things arent going their way
NSW Cup (Cutters):
o We fielded an extremely competitive side, we have so many depth signings.. but the Warriors did too, blokes like Kevin Locke at the back...
o It was a carbon copy of the U2-'s game early, we were in it but the Warriors just kept putting points on.. before we knew it.. it was 24-0 iirc, and it was a late fightback that actually nearly snatched it.
Heaps of blokes to point out:
__o Kyle @6: It really is his position (im pleased he didnt get roped into 1st grade centre to cover Farrell).. Kyle actually looks like he belongs.. but.. i feel like he has just lost too much speed to ever be a superstar, he would have been lethal pre-injury.. and he needs heaps of practice.. like 12mths+ in that position to develop his skills.. but its not beyond him if he really wants it. His goalkicking is supreme too, hes not just shooting and praying, the ball seems to move in slow-motion with spin on it, following the ideal trajectory.. its fascinating.. the only one he missed hit the upright (from the sideline).
__o Williams @7: Pretty solid, hes not a bad kid, not a superstar but competent as he was in 1st grade
__o Garvey @14: Played off the bench, was a livewire hooker, thank god hes back, surely will start next week
__o Mata'utai: Played Right Centre, wasnt his best game but still a potent attacking threat, unbelievable imo he didnt get the 1st grade spot over Green
__o Quinlan: Played Fullback, devastating with every touch.. class above as usual
__o Runciman: Left Centre, solid, has some classy touches when the ball comes his way, really pleased he is developing still, Cutters prob the right place for now.
