Fergo's was right on full time. Jackson's was scored with a few minutes still to go, but the Tigers were just dead on their feet after that.

Something else about 1989 as i am reading up on great grand finals ...

"in 1989 Balmain had never given up a 10-point lead at halftime. And, in the history of NSWRL grand finals, no team had ever come back to win after being 10 points behind at the break."

I thought the 1st half was fantastic, went so fast and had plenty of attacking and open football.
Second half was a different beast, it was so intense, waiting for one team to crack. Broncos trying to hold on and Cowboys throwing their all at them. Their were mistake but it actually added to the game.
Then the final minutes, so many magic moments, feldt try, thurston's conversion, ben hunts mistake and finally thurston's fairytale.
Also the defence during the game was at times brutal, adam blair put on a few decent shots and he wasn't alone.
So the game had a bit of everything, even the most one-eyed Victorianian fumbleball fans are raving about the game. If it wasn't the best GF then it surely makes the shortlist

Not the best of all tine but certainly the best finish to any game i can remember. Was absolutely buzzing when they crossed the line and bloody nervous for the kick!

I wonder how many switched over and missed it lol

After the opening 15 mins neither team fired a shot in attack for the rest of the first half. The Broncos then just tried to waste time for the final 30 mins of the game and the Cowboys l, for all their possession and territory, only really looked like scoring once the entire half (linnett's dropped ball). Even in that final set they didn't remotely threaten until Morgan got the ball on the final play.

Take away the last gasp try and that would have been one of the worst halves of footy of the finals series

This is right.............

If the broncos played positive football instead of that boring grinding crap in the 2nd half they would have won.

Great finish but not that great a game TBH

The finish alone would have it up there for me in all my years of watching. Me and all my mates literally had goosebumps watching that try unfold and we don't support either team

Good to see a close game till the end unlike previous GFs where the winner was known with 20 mins to go

No, too many errors in the second half. The only way the Cowboys got back in it was from the errors by the Broncos. The ones that counted were all done by Hunt! Great drama but not the greastest grand final.

This had probably the best finish to a grand final in years. Possibly ever.

But the game itself wasn't all that special. Been plenty of higher quality games that were better to watch. This game just had an epic finish and the result was what most people wanted.

Was behind the posts when Albert scored in 1997, crowd went nuts, lots of strangers hugging. Win meant so much, an old manly granny even begrudgingly clapped for the Knights. Time and place means that 1997 gets my vote.

Did enjoy 1990 and 1991. Panthers were in real trouble midway through the 1991 gf but pulled it together. Some super tries in both matches. 1986 was tense and 2003 was great. Of course 1989 was fantastic. All I can watch again and again.

2015 well up there, the best of our game. Time will tell if it's the greatest

Greatest ever is a big call, it is hard to compare.

But I think we can safely say the best GF in 10+ years.

It is great when you get a truly great GF to top the season, it doesn't happen often, but perhaps if the rules allow a more open attacking game in future years, we will see more of them.

While a dour low scoring GF is a gripping contest, it does not provide the same excitement.

This match seem to have just about the right mix everything, even non-NRL fans would have found it entertaining.

89 was better from a pure football perspective in that it had an OMG moment every 10 or so ... a heck of a lot happened.
while last night had its finish & will live off that for a long time alone.
2015 is top 5 for mine & I've watched many GF's

1989 was the best GF of all time
1997 the 2nd best
1999 a bit further down in 3rd
last night slips into 4th

2013 was a very good game
2009 too

Its definately up there, not sure about the greatest but it'll be one of the most talked in years.

Its up there with 89, 97, 2003 was one of the favourite GF's. The weather was terrible, but it didnt stop a great game.

Best GF finish since 1997, undoubtedly and one of the best in the modern game.

THE greatest ever? I don't think so. It was a dour defensive affair for most of the second half, that came alive again from the 79th minute onwards. I had a feeling the Cowboys would score in that last set, that this was going to be the moment they did it.

Still cracks me up watching the replay and hearing Sterlo go apeshit with the try on the buzzer: "WOOOOOOOAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!"

2009 was rubbish. storm ran at Mortimer all day for easy tries and never looked phased until the eels started playing 15 minutes from fulltime. and even then one of the worst refereeing decisions in a grand final took a massive shit on that game in the 77th minute.

Slater, Inglis, Hayne, Inu, Grothe, had the hallmark of a classic but didn't deliver.
