Well i'd never heard of it until i saw that trailer. It certainly looks pretty spectacular.

But as we all know its the characters that make the movie and not the special effects. So lets hope the effects merely compliment the characters and story telling.

Thanks for the link. I'll be interested to see how they market it from here on in.

If you're familiar with the graphic novel, it's regarded as Alan Moore (V for Vendetta etc)'s finest work. It's dark and has some themes that Hancock kind of touched on (superheroes as figures of hate, vigilantism etc)

Well V for Vendetta is one of my favourite movies so here's hoping it has a similar appeal.

Zack Snyder directed 300, too. And im a big fan of that movie as well.

Watchmen is a fabulous graphic novel, my favourite character is Bubastis, I hope he's in the movie. Poor Bubastis.

Alas, I don't see him listed in the primary cast.

Patrick Wilson - Nite Owl II
Bill Crudup - Doctor Manhattan
Jeffrey Dean Morgan - The Comedian
Jackie Earle Haley - Rorschach
Malin Akerman - Silk Spectre II
Matthew Goode - Ozymandias
Stephen McHattie - Nite Owl
Carla Gugino - Silk Spectre
Matt Frewer - Moloch the Mystic
Niall Matter - Mothman

I'm torn between reading the graphic novel before I see this next year, or waiting and reading it after.

I've been putting off seeing it since Thursday (I was going to go with some mates but decided to cancel). It has been hyped up too much and I just know it won't live up to my expectations. :?

I don't think this will live up to my expectations, it seems they have totally missed the point with some of the characters (Ozymandias is my main concern).

I'm still looking forward to watching it though, at least it looks pretty.

Don't think they missed the point at all. Sure they had to change one particular aspect of the film, but the essence of Ozy is completely the same as the novel

The only major departure from the graphic novel is the absence of a giant squid, and what they use instead not only makes more sense - it's less confusing for the cinema going public.

Loved it even more the second time. Hate the fact we live in a society full of airheads who can't appreciate a literary masterpiece translated onto the big screen, and instead snigger whenever they see a blue penis on screen. Completely ruins the experience.
