Wayne Bennett recommended Steve Price didn't he?

So Wayne Bennet recommended Steve Price as the 2012-13 coach didn't he? And we have come to understand following Wayne's departure just how honourable he is haven't we? Remember Wayne said that he had no intention of ripping apart the Dragons? Except for the entire support staff, Boyd, Cuthbertson, McKinnon and Scott for next year. Oh, that's right and he wanted Cameron King. So apart from those staff and players he has no intention of ripping apart the Dragons does he?

Now why would wily old Wayne recommend an untried, reasonably unimpressive style of a bloke for head coach when Michael McGuire was available for instance? Was it that Wayne knows that players are HEAVILLY INFLUENCED by the coach of the club they are going to? How many players out there in "sign on land" would be rubbing their hands toegther and saying to their managers "whatever it costs for gods sake get me down to the Dragons to play under that KID Steve Price"?

Not a single player I would presume and certainly not a single player who has seen the rubbish structure dished up by Steve Price this year.

The leadership at our club is very ordinary and uninspiring. Did we not learn anything from the Nathan Brown debacle? Kids don't make good coaches of grown men. Full stop!

I suspect that we have become a pretty unattractive place to be recruited too based on Steve Price. And who recommended Steve Price? Oh that's right, that old bloke who was not going to rip us apart. Can I suggest that Bennetts 1st act in ripping us apart was ensuring we had a novice and rookie coach who no player of any substantial value would want to play under in the years to come? The decision to appoint a boy to this poistion was terrible and we will pay for it for years to come. Thanks Wayne Bennett!

Mate Bennett left last year (time to move on) and your post is a little misinformed.

Boyd was going wherever Bennett was going so you can't blame Bennett for that.

The coaching staff came with Bennett as well from Brisbane (Dean Benton I think his name was - High performance unit). They are in the same boat as Boyd, they were going where Bennett was going.

Cuthbertson was unwanted by Price, Dragons had plenty of time to sign him but didn't and went for Ah mau, Latimore etc.

Mckinnon you can't say was a big loss because quite simply he didn't feature enough in the team to make any difference. But in the future he may become a very good player.

Beau scott is his own man, why didn't he say no to Bennett??? You can't blame Bennet for going for someone like scott if he was available.

Some people must have had these types of threads typed up in advance, just waiting to release them when times got a little tough.

If these were your thoughts, why not release them a few weeks ago after our great win on Anzac Day?

Talk about fair weather support. It's not appreciated or needed. And if it's constructive criticism, that's different. But as has been pointed out, this thread is all just pure drivel.

So it was all part of Bennett's master plan.

Of course... it's all so obvious now...

Wayne Bennett has enough problems as it stands, he is in a position he has not been in, in over 20 years, I have NEVER seen Wayne Bennett so vulnerable before.

We need to give Steve Price more time before we can hang him out to dry.

Look at the teams who have won a premiership in the last 10 years. Most of them have struggled either the following year after winning it. Or 2 years down the track.

And this is Steve Price's fault?

Let's see how quick we can bouce back.

Nah he has been in this position before.

There was a season where they (Broncos) won something like 9 or 10 in a row to sneak into the finals only to get knocked out first week.

Can't remember what year it was though....

And there are plenty more teams who haven't won anything at all in the past ten years.....

Seems unless Price delivers the next 11 premierships in a row, he will be forever vilified.

I'm backing him to turn things around, if given the chance he deserves.

I remember that season they lost something like 7 in a row after origin and he was acting very agitated in press conferences, but he still had the likes of Darren Lockyer, Webcke, Civinoceva, Carrol and co. I say it's pretty different this time with some unfamiliar faces.

Fair weather supporter? Hmmm. Over 40 years as a supporter and now a fair weather supporter! And you have not dealt with the issue. Steve Price is a kid, a pretty uninspiring kid, coaching men. This will end in tears in around 12 moths time. The kid is not up to it and I do think the forum is to express views on issues of significance; and the coaching position is reasonably significant I would have thought. Oh, the great Anzac Day triumph? As great as it was, we were outplayed for most of that game and stole it at the end. To get some sort of affirmation from that performance is troubling. We are in deep strife. Make no bones about that. Having run a pretty successful business for many years I can tell you that good organisations exist for a few reasons of which good leadership is almost the most important reason. Doust and Price = good leadership? I don't think so. Let's put it this way; would you entrust Doust and Price to lead your company? I wouldn't.

Maybe the players read this forum and see how "supportive" some of our "supporters" are ?????????

Just putting it out there .

The players have said they back Price. I prefer to trust their judgement. Give "the kid", as you call him, a go. He was contracted to do a job for 2 seasons, yet after 13 rounds there are calls for his head?

What about the "old man" up at Newcastle? How's he going? Punt him too?

But Rob, do you seriously think Bennett has stitched Price up?

It'll be interesting to see how Price goes when the end of season post-mortem is delivered. In particular, how will his first season as first grade coach compare with Wayne Bennett's first season as first grade coach? My understanding is that Souths (Brisbane) had a very poor season in 1977 when Bennett was a rookie. It took him two more years to get them into a grand final.

You are entitled to your opinion Rob that's what forums are for, I'm willing to give Price more time to prove himself.
