Bennett can be very sly and witty. But I do agree with the original post, the more he talks lately, the more he comes across as just someone who complains about anything that isn't perfectly suited for him or his team. He used to have more credibility than that, I guess he doesn't care about his image as much anymore now that he is considered as being untouchable.
Pretty sure that he is playing the media exactly as he wants to .. when he wants to go back to saying nothing, he will .. I imagine it will be not long after the Origin series finishes.
By constantly bitching about it during Origin, he removes any pressure that the players may otherwise have felt due to a poor W/L record over the period, as they may feel more pressure to "have to win" when they are available to play.
I'd be inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt on this one .. after all, it's not like this is the first time in his coaching career that he has had to deal with Origin.
The difference is that in Brisbane, they are a one-team town who get a media love-fest 24/7, so he didn't need to deflect pressure from the players as much .. in Sydney, the media are a pack of wolves baying for blood, and at the slightest inclination of trouble they all jump in and tear teams to pieces.
