UK-based members need not answer... ;-)

I'm still 50/50 at this stage as to weather or not I'll go. I'm a tad disappointed that the tournament lasts as long as it does, so I think if I do go I'll have to choose about a two-week period of the tournament and see as many games as possible during that time...

Same here. Work and other circumstances permitting I might go to the games in France and maybe a couple in the UK/Ireland depending on the schedule. Maybe.

I'm definately going! Plan is to see as many games as possible too. Starting in Wales, will see the Ireland match, and head to Wembley & Old Trafford too.

Will definitely go to the Avalon France v New Zealand game and take advantage of the occasion to try and fill a minibus with the handful of league supporters in the southeast of France.

For starters, you should probably stay during and backpack around Europe afterwards.

I'd do it the other way around. Travel first, catch the last bit of semi-decent weather, then watch the WC. It'll be a lot colder in most places if you do it the other way around...

It's fairly easy. I backpacked around Italy and Spain in 2005. Had a great time. Stay in Youth Hostels over here in England and Wales, travel by National Express coaches or 'Megabus', which is really cheap and you're sorted! What games are you wanting to watch?

Backpack first and aim for the hostel in Castlefield in Manchester for the comp. Obviously you will miss the France game, but Oxford road station will get you to both the North West (Warrington, St Helens and Wigan) easily enough and there are direct trains to Leeds, Hudds etc.

You could probably find a few fan buses going from pubs in one of the above mentioned towns (or possibly Salford) to go to the further games like Wembley, Hull, Wales or Cumbria.

it may be cheaper to hire a self board flat for a month or two in the area. Between games you can easily explore the Lakes, Liverpool, etc. You may even catch some prem football if that floats your boat.

Just have access to plenty of money as we currently live in one of the most expensive places in the world. ;-)

I shall be attending, will be going to the UK for Reading Festival 2013 then backpack around Europe for 50 days whilst the weather is still decent, then the fun and games will begin. On my previous backpacking travels I met an Irishman who was very big into his Rugby League so we are planning on hitting up as many games as possible including the Opening Ceremony, Ire vs Aus, Double header semi and the Final. Hopefully England can play some decent Rugby League and the weather is friendly!
Tickets are on sale to club members in the UK and Aus I believe
