It's been said many, many times that the A-League should be basing its approach on the J-League and MLS models. I just wish we'd actually do it.

Any thoughts on the starting XI? What do you want to see and what will Holger end up picking?

Holger has said to SBS that he's going to rely on experience ffs.

Side will probably be something like this.

Schwarzer (40)

Wilkshire (31) Neill (35) Ognenovski (34) McKay (30)

Jedinak (28) Milligan (27)

Kruse (24) Bresciano (33) Holman (29)

Cahill (33)

Average age of 31.3.
---------------------------
What I'd go with out of that squad

Schwarzer (42)

Wilkshire (31) Milligan (27) Ognenovski (34) Zullo (24)

Jedinak (28) Holland (24)

Kruse (24) Vidosic (26) Oar (21)

Cahill (33)
-------------
Average age of 28.5.

Great, no striker. Because that worked so well in Durban...

We've got nothing to lose. We're not gonna win. I don't understand why he can't just put out an attacking line-up and freak the Japs out a bit. You cannot sit back and keep this mob to a draw for 90 mins. Maybe in Brisbane, but not over there.

Predictions?

Japan 3 - 1 Australia personally.

Neill and Ogg to get destroyed at centreback through their lack of pace, Cahill to nick a goal from a corner.

Jedinak should be starting to break up any flow to Japan.

I haven't seen Kennedy for a while but every time we play him against these smaller teams we bomb crosses to him all night and it goes nowhere. Other than him who else we playing up front? Cahill is our only goal threat.

I'm hoping we qualify so we can punt Osieck get Ange in.

2-1 Japan. Think we'll be exposed for the slow side we have become in defence

It has potential embarrassment written all over it.

Hopefully it's no more than 3-0

If Jedinak plays there can be protection for the defence. We won't be pressing too high by any rate so the pace shouldn't be the cause of a loss. It's a concern but there are other areas to be worried about. Passing us off the park and pulling players out of position on the other hand....

I'm hoping for a draw. 1-1, 0-0 whatever. It's this kind of game we have generally fought and got something out of it. Still hopeful.

Apparently Jedinak's injured.

I hope he comes in for Oar so my predicted is 100% correct. We're going to lose anyway.

Murray's predicted side has been named. No striker, but tbh I don't know if we really have one up to it. Kennedy maybe? But he isn't much of a player these days.

I think we have a good shot if the team has been coached correctly. I predict 1-1 or 2-1 Japan.
