Shannon Hegarty would have been a great acquisition

Nah to predictable. Every time he gets in dummy half my 18 month old niece knows what he is going to do. That is, run sideways;-) Better centres then that bloke IMO.

What about Stephen Ross. He was supposed to be the next big thing.

Beau Scott? He is one of Rapers signings isn't he?

Frank Samia, Bryson Goodwin. There are guys there. Maybe they just aren't developing.

None of them are a patch on Moke ... I reckon that kid could play 1sts now and not be out of place.

I still think the most important thing is to get the forwards right with picking up Mason and King or Cayless will keep the forwards going forward and if that happens the backs will take care of themselves. There are some good young backs in the lower grades and they will go fine in the top grade if the forward pack is giving them room.

We are in the market for another centre because there are no juniors like ET, Mat Rogers, David Peachey and Adam Dykes breaking their way into the first grade backline. That was junior talent ready for first grade level.

There actually are a few but they are not given a go. Bryson Goodwin is a gun player who can cover fullback, centre and wing. Mitch Brown is another fullback/winger with a bit of class about him. Dimitri Pelo, Oz Schoolboy and French Intl already, was scoring at a try a game rate in the Qld Cup before he came down here to languish in the lower grades.

The players are there.

DS continues to prove he is an idiot.

And to Gunnamatta, an ET comeback at 40 probably would do better than McGoldrick, Bird and Galloway combined!

Based on the latest signing information, young centres will have another regular first grade centre to wait behind starting next season.

The thing that gets me black dot is his age... He is 30 next year.

Our club is against one year deals like Lolesi yet for signing a player who will be 30...

Good point mate, look at Nigels age when we signed him, Mellor too.

A point made last night was how well Covell went with Mellor back in the side, the players themselves enjoy that combo far better and feel they play better with it. Maybe our theory is experienced centres with young wingers ?

The problem I have is we are replacing one 30+ year old centre with another 30 year old centre.

Say we sign this player for 2 seasons. After the first season we will lose Nige then the 2nd season this player may go to the UK - so we would have to have a new set of centres. Long term planning needs to be done. We have a thousand young backrowers yet old props and old centres. It needs to be fixed... Esp props if Stevo goes for another season we would have to buy two new props next off season, when nuts and he leave!

Get some young blokes in or bring them up!

Hope your talking about Bell BD.
I wouldnt mind Wes from the Dragons either.
They have him out on the wing and he's doing a good job but I liked him in the centres a few weeks back.
A permanent run in the centres might tempt him.
He can kick too but for some strange reason the Dragons used Gorrell today.
Anyone know his contract situation?

I see your point to an extent K but Mellor is carrying chronic long term injuries and may not be as "able" as Bell. I think for a 30 year old Bell plays a lot like a 25 year old :)
