Big fellas that are all getting fit. Killer backline too. a lot rests on the hooker. If McInnes does a rein, put in Robson with haviili.

Agree big boys, although Masoe's return is labelled 'indefinite', hopefully he does come back at some stage next season, hopefully packers shoulder and hip surgery won't hamper his start to the year also, and Kerr is still very inexperienced so time will tell with him, still plenty of size and depth, have a feeling the boys will rip in this year

Thanks dragonssammy61 good to hear Packer will be fully fit, I'm sure he will be ready to continue where he left off last season, leading from the front and he'll be supported well with Vaughan, Sims, Host, Luch and co, a good balanced pack, just need to score some points to lift the spirits, wins do wonders for a sides confidence, feeling positive, fingers crossed

We've got the cattle, it's just a 7 and a Head Coach. That's literally the only thing holding us back from a potential premiership.
Can you pass me some of those drugs your smoking. :p

A mate of mine who is a dragons supporter said Masoe has reinjures his knee. Its not serious but coming back from a acl he will be nowhere near his destructive best and these days you need big minutes from your middle 3rd and playing at 130kg will kill him. He used be buggered playing at 122-125kg for us.

Im a fan of a number of your pack but you need your hooker to fire. I dont rate McInnes at all (i hope for your sake he proves me wrong) so even if you have a decent half and decent coach well thats a moot point. A lot of clubs would be premiership threats with a decent half and coach but a lot of clubs dont have either.

Like us next year you guys will be lucky to make the 8.

I did go all out at you but now that you've edited your post you've redeemed yourself a little bit so I should do the same.

This is all assumption really, Mose has a big question mark over his head right now. He could be a complete flop or he could come back better than he ever has. It's not like he's getting too old or anything.
A lot of forwards don't necessarily have to play big minutes these days. Look at guys like Kasiano and Shannon Boyd. They're extremely effective despite their low minutes and their forwards rotation works extremely efficiently around them.
Mcinnes is a solid player and at 22 he's got a lot of room to grow. He's certainly a lot better than Mitch Rein who was holding us back in the middle 3rd. If he can be a little bit quicker and more creative out of dummy half I see no reason why he won't be successful.

2017 will be a rough year for The Dragons, watch out in 2018 though. New halfback, new Coach, Robson will be of age.
You'll see.

Dude, you dont need big minutes from all of your middle players. Every team can afford 1-2 low minute, high impact players on the bench, and Mose suits the role - or at least, he will when he gets on the park (probably around Rd 7).

And a 6
I cant see widdop being any better next season so field/mann should get a run
I dont know if i can keep watching widdop kick into the opposition players and kick the ball dead and failing to pass when they have a overlap

We have a monster pack
Which is why we need Jamie soward to steer them around the park and provide a good kicking game allowing Gareth widdop to pick and choose to run the ball and do what he does best

We will have a big pack but more importantly one that should be able to intimidate. They need to play a powergame but only so that the opposition defence is worked over in order for the team to be creative with the space and attack with controlled flair. Its no good if we play a power game and have no direction in attack once the platform has been laid (look at Bulldogs).

The Dragons need to learn the balance between risk/reward that's needed in their play. You need to take risks some are acceptable and some aren't. For the last two seasons we have been trying to avoid risk altogether.

Masoe 130 kg doubtful
Packer 121 kg 188cm
Kerr 115 kg 196cm (young)
Leilua 112 kg 186cm young
Ah Mau 111 kg 183cm
Vaughan 110 kg 190cm
Frizell 108 kg 183cm
Lewis 108 kg 190cm young

Weight is one aspect of a big pack but height and experience are the other important factors. ST George have a host of good youngsters but they will need time.

Other big packs have all aspects.

Souths pack
Tom Burgess 125kg 196cm
George Burgess 122kg 194cm
Sam Burgess 116cm 195cm
Musgrove 112kg 191cm
Rudolph 110kg 189cm
Greinke 106kg 190cm
Rochow 105kg 193cm
Cherrington 112kg 195cm
Sutton 106kg 191cm
Turner 105kg 190cm
Crichton 106kg 188cm

They have a tall fast pack with a good mix of experience and youth. So does Canberra, Dogs, Storm and roosters.

I agree to most of this. Im still not not sold on McInnes but i note it takes a while to be a good starting 9 in the modern game. Vaughan is a good pick up too.

At the moment yes but wasnt the NRL going to further reduce the interchange to 6 from 2018? Or are they going to stop at 8 for now and assess it over a longer time period to get a good statistical sample of the effects of injuries and player fatigue from the 8 interchanges?
