We missed out on Pritchard but Roberts still a chance...

There are a lot of happy Panther fans around after hearing that Frank the Tank
is staying at Penrith.

I was already pretty confident last week though, because when I asked him if he
was staying at Penrith, he pointed to the Panthers logo on his tie, and said that it
was pretty much bought and paid for, and he had a big grin on his face when he
said it.

It's a great day for Penrith.

A bit off track from the Panthers side of things but today listening to brisbane radio theres a big chance tate could be an eel as he is not happy with the ponys contract offer and is leaning towards a switch to parra
If Tate signs with Parra will he play for the Broncos first grade again?

I doubt that we needed Pritchard as much as we need outside backs. With Afa coming along, Cayless in the back row and Wags and Stapleton shining, we need another backrower like we need a second Brian Smith! Pritchard may be good, but I have seen nothing to suggest that he is certain to have a better carer than Afa. Or Mal Kafusi - if he finds the fuel that drove him at Manly.

The jury is still out on Kaufusi and Fui IMO. There a bit like a Mercedes when they first came to Australia, looked good but weren't really built for Australian conditions. (Hey, if you lived in the country you'd understand).

Court is still in for Mr Tsoulos - he has size, strength and a great off load. I will give him the benefit of the doubt as he is young and was injured.

Big Jack - that break against Penrith was great, shame no-one backed it up. We did eventually score but the break deserved more.

How can Tate be linked to Parra, he doesn't have permission to negatate does he?
Has someone broke the anti tampering laws, or has the fact Smith mentioned it means Tate knows the Eels are interested and wants to see their offer?
only 2 days to go, if anyone signs on July 1 then they must have been talking before hand. Can't look over a contract and sign that quick.

I've got a block of swampland, great location with brilliant opportunity to develop for sale if you want, PM, I'll do you a great deal.....

Tate knows the Eels are well under the cap, his manager would know they are interested and has probably suggested he wait until June 30 and test the market.

Tsoulos (if the latter resists the urge to become Greg Drake Mk II)

Very good call. However Tsoulos has something that Drake didn't. I think Tsoulos has more of edge, Drake was a big unit but as soft as....look at Tsoulos' eyes when he's playing....there's a focus there that wasn't there with Greg Drake. Says to me that Tsoulos will put the work in and become just a big, slow, lumbering unit like Drake.

I remember Drake's debut though. Think it was a home game vs Illawarra. A couple of great off loads for tries.

I would do anything to get Amos to our club. A great talent with blistering speed.

But he can't tackle.

Neither can Burt and we re-signed him for 2 years.

The point I was making, and you seemed to miss, is that in another thread the top try scorer for 2002 was mentioned as a good recruit. You mentioned he couldn't tackle either - so whats the difference when all three players (Burt, Donald and Roberts) are capable of breaking a game wide open? Is it because Roberts has a higher profile at the moment? A lot of people didn't want him here last year when we originally chased him.

I would rate Burts tackling efforts much higher than the other two. What we need is a player that will break the defence wide open. A real top class talent. We have Hindy but in order to be dangerous we need another one.

I'll put it simply, Amos is and always will be a better player then Burt.
