You are spot on. I dont believe the talk that the game all of a sudden needs to make drastic changes to survive. The media keeps telling us the sky is falling. If you keep hearing that the sky is falling, the sky is falling, pretty soon people will soon begin to believe it. Doesn't mean its true.

I wouldnt want any sydney team to be killed (even the roosters) since you will only alienate those supporters.

Only 7000 or so fans (per team) can really complain about relocation.

We are arguing about kicking out clubs when the REAL issue is News Ltd's involvement and their agenda to drive down all aspects of the game.

read my thread about the fact that we shouldn't be cutting teams but expanding.

i feel there should be teams in every corner of the country and more in the pacific.

we've got the stronghold that every other club wants. They all hold minor little postitions, or states with limited growth. We have Sydney, NSW and QLD all sewn up.

we should go on the offensive into WA, SA, NZ and further up and down the eastern seaboard.

Exactly how many Sydney local sporting teams have been successful for very long periods of time. You will find that they are probably only RL teams.

There are many indicators that the game is and should be kicking ass. Problems always come from leadership. NEWs and the current NRL lackeys should be shot and quartered for the hysteria created.

It made me laugh when MG said on Sunday that we should cut to a 12 or 10 team comp because the Cowboys are struggling and this is somehow proof that there are too many teams in the comp. Then MG is the one saying Aussie Rules is taking over out in the west. What does he think merging Penrith, Parra and the Bulldogs would do for League out there???

Also, this idea that "Reducing teams will create a stronger comp" is crap. In 1997, the Crushers were still easybeats in the ARL, even though that was a 12 team comp. Likewise the Rams and Cowboys in the 10 team $ewerleague comp.

You want to see how successful a 12 team comp full of merged entities and $2 shelf franchises would be in the eyes of the public? Go and see how many people out there in the general public care about the Super 14's. And according to this "too many teams" logic, they're ahead of us already- they only have FOUR teams in Australia, and no more than ONE in Qld/NSW/Act and WA. How many people even know who won the comp. this year?

Culling Sydney clubs will have the same effect it had last time clubs were forced to merge or were removed from the competition, ie; many many fans lost to the game forever.
Its very sad in the centenary year when we should be embracing our history celebrating what we have, there is so much talk of removing clubs and more merging of sides.
