Well yes, he spilt the ball, missed a bomb so complely, I was closer to it in standing in row 8 but on the whole, I think he's coming along OK and having a go.

One thing we cant argue about is that our policy of relative inexperience is paying dividends.

I wouldnt be quick to break up this side.

4 from 4 since the arrival of the kids and Johnny Lang. We all would have choked at the start of the year if someone had suggested this.

I reckon that on balance, Capewell should stay put. There is no pressing need to change a winning forumula. Ugly, yes, but successful.

Thats ok too but his defence is pathetic if you have watched him the last few weeks everyone pushes him off or runs over the top of him, if they break through they haven't got anyone to beat.

Its not pathetic, it just lacks a bit of finesse.

If we dont give him a chance he will never improve.

He seems to me to be an integral part of this side.

He has an impressive resume, he'll get with the program soon enough.

I'm not saying the kid doesn't try but he seems to have no confidence in going for the high ball & lacks vigour in defence,I'll say this for him he backs up all day & his stuff ups don't seem to worry him.

All those qualities will come in due course Appin.

Footy is lot harder to play than it seems.

At the end of the day, his contribution as part of the whole, has been satisfactory and unlike other players, I think it will only get better.

He could be anything this kid.

I agree Dave hw has potential but he scored 2 tries for us & 3 for the opposition I wouldn't like to see our run end for the semi's because he missed a tackle or dropped a bomb

I would put Capewell on the wing, I dont think there are many top notch fullbacks available. Somebody like David Milne might be a bit more solid, but not top class.

I was watching the game last night at Wests Leagues in Leumeah. That Sandow has talent. You guys would have won comfortably last night if it wasn't for Capewells 2 giant stuffups (the dropped ball when he was returning the kick and when he failed to hit the ball out from the grubber kick)

I think a few weeks with the bears wouldn't hurt him where they will test him out rather than the Toyota Cup the kid definately has talent .

it was more then two stuff ups. add the non contested bomb and his pathetic excuse for a tackle on tomato.

just to mix things up a bit, if we are to be talking replacements, beau champion. he's played plenty of fullback. he's in hot form. he's got height to contest the bombs. why not? especially with best coming in next year, we will have one less spot in the centres.

having said that i think capewell should retain his position. he's only played 4 games for gods sake

Colin Best anyone ?, He has the height, the defence, and is a strong runner of the ball, he could be a real success there imo.

lol @ souffs fans.

Capewells resume from Monday night:

* Dropped/failed to conest 3 bombs, giving the Bulldogs a repeat set on 2 occasions
* Made a pathetic attempt of a tackle on the dogs 5/8 which led directly to a try
* Dropped the ball cold on a return, led directly to a try
* Failed to dive or even really make an attmept on the grubber in the second half, led directly to a try.
* Caught the ball off the kick off when it was clearly going out on the full.
* Overall played like someone whod be in reserves in bush footy

As has been noted, many an elite player has had the occasional shocker.

He did contest that bomb, the way he was positioned, he couldnt get the speed up he needed for a high leap. An experienced player may have taken a few steps back so that he had a chance of stopping Crisp or slowing him down after he had caught it. I was right in fromt of it.

It was a very hard play to defend against on your own.

He shouldnt have spilt the ball near our try-line, that was a loose carry and we paid the price. He'll learn from that.

A brain snap from the kick off, happens.

But he scored two tremendous tries including the match winner and was in good position for most of the game.

I reckon anyone who has played footy would have some sympathy for him.

As I said, I didnt see enough horror to bench him for the next match.

And we need to be at the very top of our game v the eels. Make no mistake, they will come out firing.

As people have mentioned fullback is not his position but he has to be in the team somewhere, the catching bombs problems can be addressed at training with a few drills but the wingers and centres need to be helping the fullback whoever it is. The way the bombs were handled by the back 3 unit it just looks like there has been absolutely no attention given to this at training, they need to act as a unit and communicate.

I can't see Champion leaving the centre possy and JT has said as much because he's been so good in the centres, Capewell will be a backup half/five eighth for Sandow and Wing meaning no more Sutton in the backs so maybe Best is the option for fullback next year? If not Best then Capewell can overcome the few deficiencies he has and be a great sucess at fullback imo.

How bout Jamie Simpson at Fullback? Runs hard, good pace and has some size about him.

He'd go pretty well there I reckon.
