With Price gone, Webb looking doubtful, will Qld put in a call to Shane Webcke and ask him to go round one more time for the Maroons?

His inclusion would be a massive lift for the Maroons and would be hard to refuse you wold think. Decider at Suncorp Stadium, last ever rep game, chance to bow out on top, underdogs, under pressure etc.

Personally, I think he'll be there for game 3.

Doubt it. He has said he has retired and he isn't the sort of bloke to go back on his word. As much as I'd like to see it it won't happen...

If he plays Qld win. I didn't see anything out of NSW last night to suggest they can handle Webcke over 80 minutes at Suncorp. No NSW forwards, no Johns.

They are coming up short on forwards and Tronc is probably not at Origin level just yet. Are there any other Qlder's who could be picked? Parker is probablyt henext choice but he's certainly not in the same league as Webcke.

I thought that too - surely they will try to get him back, and I think if they ask he will play.

he wont play :(

I think though that mcguire should be dropped and harrison brought in. If TC is fit that will make a difference.

and my smokey is hodges for bowman. Bowman is outstanding defensively but offers little in attack

Webcke will NOT play.
He is a man of his word. He isnt like Fittler who had to come back and be "the hero"

Hodges is in good form, no matter what we think about him personally. The Hodges/Berrigan Broncos combination in the centres is a good answer to the NSW St.George pair.

He does seem final on the topic, and unlike Fittler is not keen to have 3 goes at a final game.

I hope so...our pack was ineffective last night which stymied Lockyers and Thurstons ability to do much...although we won't make them a scapegoat and drop them for the next match!

After Price went down injured I would have thought Danny Nutley would have been picked. He is the sort of player who would grow an extra arm and leg to wear maroon. His workrate would have been beneficial and kept Webb on the bench.

Webcke won't do an Alf or a Fittler. The bloke has too much integrity....

The only reason he's not playing Origin this year is because of his knee. If he didn't have a problem with it, he would have played in this year's series.

People are saying he's a man of his word..man of integrity etc, etc.. Would we think anything less of him if he came back? I wouldn't. His state needs him, I'd respect the bloke even more.

Shane Webcke won't come back, just like Gorden Tallis didn't come back for game 3 last year because of his neck. Webcke was also the only guy who stuck to his word and decided not to tour England in 2001.

Not a chance in hell mate!
Possibly next year if he thinks he can handle it, but there is no way he'll be playing Origin this year, that I assure you!

He stuck to his wife's word in 2001 didn't he? IMO, he's a great mabassador for our game but what he did in 2001 will forever be a blight on his record as a player. He dogged the green and gold big time because he was scared to get on a plane.
