Well no, Cooper. There is a guy on here who has been absolutely giving it to his own team since 10pm Saturday night.
=============================
Cooper Cronk said it was “an absolute cracker” of a game and congratulated all of the players.
“I thought there wasn’t a bad player on the field. I know the second half had a lot of errors, but congratulations to all 34 players, they was honestly on the edge of your seat from the first minute until the very last, that was so good,” he said.
The most enthralling element of the clash was the gritty defence. The final score of 8-6 shouldn’t be waived away as a boring game with only two tries, it instead tells the story of incredibly gritty defence from both teams.
“I don’t think I’ve seen a game this year where both sides have defended standing on their tryline for so long and just kept repelling and kept scrambling to keep denying each other tries,” Alexander said.
“It started from that first linebreak by Api Koroisau, Nathan Cleary centimetres from scoring a try, the next play over in the corner saved a try and it went on,” Cronk added.
“I think there was three more in the second half, Pangai Jr was held up, Koroisau went within inches of scoring a try. It was an inspired defensive performance from Parramatta, so resilient, so tough.”
In the end it was a penalty goal that got Penrith over the line, and plenty would argue Parramatta were the better team on the night. Anasta says that’s what makes it a “heartbreaking” result for Brad Arthur’s side.
“If you’re a Parramatta player, coach or a fan, you’ve got to be proud.
“That’s their best semi-final game in a very long time. They got so close and they were so tough.
“It’s heartbreaking to not see them come out on top after that because they probably deserved it in the end.”
